Yorkshire post saying: [edit, as of now after our three confirmed] Clubs sources have told The Yorkshire Post that two further deals are at an advanced stage with talks on-going with another couple of targets. AZ Alkmaar forward Markus Henrikson, however, is understood to no longer be a priority due to Abel Hernandez being set to stay at the KCOM Stadium despite Aston Villa’s very public courting of the Uruguay international in recent weeks. Philip Buckingham @PJBuckingham 51s52 seconds ago #hcafc still playing down the prospect of signing Markus Henriksen but aiming for 2 or 3 more new signings ahead of the deadline.
The Dutch and Norwegian press are still adamant he's on his way here. He wasnt at todays press conference in Norway for their game against Belarus, he also wasnt with the squad for training, he's meant to be back with the National team tonight. These have all been posted in the last hour or so.. "Markus Henriksen moved from 'AZ Alkmaar to' Hull City: The Norwegian was followed by Torino and had been brought to Milan and Naples in recent months. Now he chose England." "(NPK-NTB): Markus Henriksen was not at the press gathering on Tuesday. AZ-assisted steering will be close to transition to English football." "NTB gets verified that Henriksen scheduled to take part in training with the national team at Ullevaal later Tuesday ." "Meanwhile, Henriksen few problem railing fight against the White Russia Wednesday (Deadline day?) , since he must have a medical check before the club changed"
I knew this would happen, as soon as we are linked with a good player with a good reputation and we have found out we are in talks I knew we'd hear that it wouldn't come to fruition. We never seem to sign players like that.
Markus Henriksen is a midfielder- not a forward. So why would Abel staying have any impact whatsoever on whether we sign Henriksen or not? Completely different positions.
Shame if true about Henriksen. I thought he was an attacking mid-fielder not a striker, and looked to be really good value around 6-7 mill. He was in Hull for a medical and looked like he was set to come. Just hope we bring him in. Cant really see Keane being what we need up front so too bad Kodjia is apparently out of the picture. Without better support for Hernandez looks like that will be our major ongoing weakness.
With a player that talented, I can only hope that if he isn't coming, the lad we've got instead is even better.
So who are the two advance stage talks? I'd suspect Henriksen was a plan B for Abel, but we do need another striker for a four And I suspect Hendrick was plan b for Mason. So... Maybe Hal theCanoe? As the fourth striker? A wide player? And a full back who can be versatile are the key positions!
The fact remains that his current club tweeted that they've gave permission for him to speak with us and thats why he wasnt in their squad. You only let a player discuss personal terms once a fee has been, or is very close to being agreed. The only way this wont happen is if he was never a no.1 target, and now that Mason is in the building we no longer want him. But we would have heard by now that the deal was dead... As I said in my last post, the Dutch and Norwegian press are still saying its a done deal.
