QPR have agreed a £1.75m fee with Anderlecht for forward Idrissa Sylla. The Guinean international is expected in London on Tuesday for his medical. The 25-year-old Sylla has been capped 22 times by Guinea and was a member of the squad at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations. At club level, he began his career in France with Le Mans and Bastia (on loan), before moving to Zulte Waregem in Belgium, and then Anderlecht, who signed him in February of 2015. QPR have made a relatively promising start to the Sky Bet Championship season and lie fifth with three wins from their first five wins. However, half of their eight goals have come from the penalty spot and it is no surprise that manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is looking for extra depth in the attacking positions. If the Sylla deal goes through he will provide Hasselbaink with an extra option alongside the likes of Seb Polter and Conor Washington.
Who is Idrissa Sylla? The lowdown on QPR’s potential new signing By Andrew Raeburn 29/08/2016 please log in to view this image QPR have agreed a fee with Anderlecht for Guinean striker Idrissa Sylla,Here’s his story. In the beginning Sylla was born in Conakry, the capital of Guinea, on 3 December 1990. ‘Ice, Ice Baby’ was top of the UK charts and Don Howe’s QPR sat second-bottom of Division One. In 2006, he was spotted by French club Le Mans during a tournament organised by Guinean football agent Amadou Diaby. Motoring at Le Mans The striker quickly graduated into the B team, before getting his first taste of senior football in the 2010-11 season with a loan spell at Bastia, then in the French third tier. He scored seven times in 27 league games, including the last-minute goal against Creteil that clinched the title for Bastia with three games to spare. Having helped his adopted team to promotion to Ligue 2, Sylla kept his parent club in that division the following year, scoring nine goals and finishing as the club’s joint top-scorer in his debut season in the first team. He couldn’t prevent their relegation in 2013, however, although he did find the net against Claudio Ranieri’s Monaco, who won the second tier that year. Idrissa Sylla factfile • Born: 3 December 1990 (age 25), in Conakry, Guinea • Position: Winger/striker • Playing honours: Championnat de National winner, 2010-11 (with Bastia) • International caps: 22 for Guinea (five goals) • Previous team-mate of: Sunderland’s Wahbi Khazri (at Bastia); Thorgan Hazard, brother of Eden (at Zulte-Waregem); Brentford’s Maxime Colin and Burnley’s Steven Defour (at Anderlecht); Florentin Pogba, brother of Paul (for Guinea). Belgium move After Le Mans slipped out of Ligue 2, Sylla moved on to Belgian top-flight team Zulte Waregem. He made four appearances in the Europa League group stage in 2013-14, including coming on as a substitute in an away win at Wigan Athletic. In total, he scored 18 goals in 64 games during 18 months at Essevee, a record that saw him attract interest from Club Brugge and Wolves. In January 2015, while he was at the Africa Cup of Nations, his agent negotiated for him a move to Belgian giants Anderlecht. Brussels bound He signed a four-and-a-half year deal, only making his debut at the start of the 2015-16 season. He made an immediate impact, scoring on each of his first three appearances, but his Europa League action was limited to four very brief substitute appearances, coming on in the closing minutes of the home and away games against Tottenham. He netted a further four times in the league last season, and began the current campaign with three goals in his first seven matches. He might now, however, be headed for Loftus Road. International career Sylla made his debut for Guinea in a friendly against Ivory Coast on 29 February 2012, and has won 22 caps, scoring five goals. He sat on the bench for the group stages of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, but did play the first half of their 3-0 defeat by Ghana in the quarter-finals.
ANOTHER BRICK IN THE WALL NOT MUCH GOOD AT ALL HE CANT PLAY AS A STRIKER HES MORE OF A WINGER BUT HES CHEAP AND WONT BE A FINANCIAL STINGER THIS IS ENOUGH TO GET ELLERS TO WRITE A POEM THAT WOULD BE GOOD IF HE DOES THAT THEN WE ARE MOVING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION LETS NOT BE MISUNDERSTOOD
It's good that we've signed a striker. Not exactly prolific but not too far off it so worth a punt. Here's hoping that he's a £1.75m diamond in the rough.
Sylla has medical ahead of proposed QPR move By David McIntyre 30/08/2016 please log in to view this image Anderlecht striker Idrissa Sylla has completed a medical and agreed personal terms ahead of a proposed transfer to QPR. The Guinea international, 25, requires a work permit before a £1.5m deal can be completed for him move to Loftus Road. Rangers are keen to sign at least one striker before Wednesday night’s deadline and Sylla is one of several options they have been considering. Sylla has been at Anderlecht since 2015. He previously played for Zulte Waregem and French club Le Mans
I note that his nickname is 'Waddle' because his playing style has drawn a comparison with Chris of Toon. Expect a cover of 'Diamond Lights' and for him to be way down the penalty taking pecking order then. Chrissy Waddle? Boutros Boutros-Ghali.
if this guy come to us which somehow i doubt hes only being brought in as a winger im still looking for that goal machine that les ferdinand talked about to me but i fear that he would be priced out of our range i trully hope now with the transfer deadline being so very close we are knowwhere near getting a striker, and that could cost us dearly as going to the prem is the richest prize in football estimated at 180 million pounds wow wow wow im thinking we should have bought loic remy its not a matter of his value its more about can we afford not to have bought a player who in this division guarantees thirty goals and in the prem guarantees 20
