I wish he'd just buckle down and listen to Klopp. It's almost like he thinks he knows better......must be very frustrating for a manager who you have a player who has the capability. His attitude has been in question from the start. His ability to score has never been in question.
Aye his arrogance has always been there, even back when he was little more than a kid at City. But I think he needs to play, as otherwise I could imagine him being a bad egg in the dressing room, a sulky sort.
Doesn't work hard enough, Klopp likes his forwards to close down and hassle the opposition. Sturridge wont do that, he's only really interested in working when the team have the ball and not when he's being asked to close down. I also see other flaws in his game, his greed being the main one. I get that strikers tend to be greedy but Sturridge is beyond that, he's always coming deep to get the ball and being out of position and when he does get the ball he doesn't pass unless its some fancy **** that only comes off 1 in 10. And then theres the shooting from everywhere and anywhere instead of finding the pass or cross or whatever, He's wasteful. Thats not to say he isn't a good player, but not much of a team player.
He'd go somewhere else and score **** loads. He's a very good player, links up well in attacks, can create, waltz past players with ease and score like the best. In a typical team, there's one or two of these players and the rest work around them. In Klopp's teams, all 11 work and that's the problem here. If we had a better midfield (Can and Grujic maybe or Can and Henderson if he gets back on form) we could start Danny up top and feed him all day - rest assured, he'd bang them in all day too. There's definitely a battle going on between them though, but there'll only be one winner. He'll either play up top again and press or he'll be shipped out.
They had a phone in on Sturridge on Radio 5 Live this morning. Most of the LFC fans who called in suggested he should buckle down and get on with it or move on.
One of the best strikers in the league and in Europe. The only reason he's still at Liverpool and not at a bigger club is because of his injuries. In terms of working hard/pressing - he simply can't physically do it IMO, nothing to do with effort. Having said that, if we had a competent defence and midfield, I think Klopp would use him more often.
I don't agree ... that'll shock ya Klopp's style is pressing. That approach needs everyone to be committed to the cause. You can't carry passengers (in a pressing sense)
Think Sturridge would do well to move to Spain or Italy. As it would suit his lack of pace and effort. He's been at city, chavs and us. Can't see any big premier league teams wanting him and we wouldn't sell to utd. He probably thinks he is too big for lesser teams too.
You're being ridiculous. Do you really think Firmino or Lalla has the pace of a fit Studge? I don't mean like in the Europa final when he could barely move after an hour - you have to accept that Studge is fast but he uses his fuel up quickly and is never going to have the range of a Henderson or Milner. But they are Me110's compared to Studge's Me109 or FW190 - we need Studge at the beginning or end of a game if we are to have an edge. Look at Ford yesterday - I love the dude, but he, Geronimo or Lalla are not in Studge's class as a finisher.
Then we need a pressing #10 that can score goals as well as run 12k in the game. May be Mane, but it certainly ain't Lalla nor Geronimo.
It's a story older than Garlic Bread, Striker looks amazing. Striker gets injured. Striker is never the same again.
It's funny. You're at the supermarket with your wife/girlfriend. In a bad case of "wrong place, wrong time" she suddenly gets a million thoughts flooding into her head as she looks at you staring in the direction of another woman. "Is he cheating on me? Does he not love me? Does he think I'm ugly? Am I ugly? Was she prettier? Does he spend all his time checking out other women at work? I bet it's that Janet from accounting. This is the fault of his friends down at the pub, I should never let him go there again. Actually he can **** off, the deadbeat! I'm far better off without him, the cheating piece of ****, he can go with his stupid girlfriend by the frozen peas! I should have listened to my sister when she.." and so on and so on. Meanwhile you're zoned out, completely fried from a day of work. You'd nodded off for a second, wondering if panthers were the same animal as a puma, and whether or not you had crisps at home. You snap out of it, smile at your wife/girlfriend. She scowls back and doesn't talk to you for two days. When she tells you what's wrong over a testy lunch that you prepared, you are flabbergasted. How are women so dramatic? How do they jump to so many conclusions from such a small moment? That's us. That's this moment. That's this picture. He's literally been photographed not smiling, and suddenly he can **** right off, the jammy injured git, ****ing **** anyway, Origi is far better, ****, whinger, etc. Jesus Christ, lads. He's the second best striker in the Prem. He's enjoying a spell of relative lack of injury, or chronic injury that is, and has started finding his form after not playing a lot. Don't jump to conclusions. Don't read into this the way the S*n would. It's just a photo. I'm sure he's hard working in training. Klopp isn't stupid. He'll play when he's fit and the tactics call for him.
Went to Chester Zoo on Saturday. £20-odd quid, but bloody brilliant. Long day - 10 till 6, but worth it. New islands are sound. Only drawback though - seeing lions, tigers (and bears, oh my!) and, especially, the gorgeous jaguar in confined spaces. Hey, Chester Zoo is better than most, but the saddest sight of all was seeing hornbills and toucans in spaces smaller than our back garden. You'd get locked up if you kept a Lab or a German Shepherd in such a space - or you should do.
