£40K a week should be within our capabilities and suspect the proposed 'bumper pay deal' for Abel would be at that level at least; most likely higher. If we could attract Daws, Jake and Tom from Spurs then if he doesn't join it's not salary related. Just a personal view.
All a lot younger and unproven at the time. The guy is 23 with a poor championship record. anyway here is hoping im proven wrong
Why are people making out we are doing ok transfer wise? Is it because its not the Allams? Its nothing short of a disaster so far. A back up GK and a kid who's never played top flight football and barely Championship. Unless we get 3-4 good quality signings we are seriously ****ed. So what are the Chinese doing? **** all by the look of it.
Well as we don't have Greegsy for a while, we need 3 senior keepers and we were hardly likely to risk Mannion given that he never even played for AFC Wimbledon first team. So that's why Marshall is coming in. If we got Mason, we'd be getting a proven player. If we got Hendrick (not Hendricks for those of you who like to add s to things.), we'd at least be getting a player who has clearly outgrown the Championship. Just because a player is playing there doesn't mean it's their level; if they're the standout player in a team that usually finishes near the top of the table, it's a good sign. He dominated our midfield when they beat us and he's certainly one of, if not their best player at the moment. He's also got international caps and has played at tournaments, so even more experience. Henriksen is similar, playing in a good league for a good team and their standout player for the last two years, exactly who we should be targeting to replace Diame. What we are doing is looking at players that are shining at clubs that they're too good for, it's what most newly promoted sides do and it's pretty effective. We don't need anyone, otherwise we'd just pick off some players from Rochdale and Fleetwood for 20k each. It looks like we are identifying players that, under Bruce, we would've gone "I wish we had signed him" and that's a really good sign. To those suggesting the players listed are 'preparing for the Championship signings', Hendrick, Henriksen and Mason would be off as soon as we went down, so don't worry about it.
Ha. In this day and age 4.5m for two players is a drop in the ocean. Almost laughable that you see it as a 'massive outlay' for a premier league team. One being the number 1 for his country. 4.5 these days is championship prices for 1 player
The threads 351 pages long. Are you saying we should only start it on Wednesday morning? Then I'm in agreement.
Situation isn't great but save the panic until Thursday when we know for definite that we've ****ed up with the transfers
No one is panicking. We're all frustrated at the level of signings we are making. With a dawning realization the Hernandez to villa may happen
That seems about the going rate to me. He would come in as one of our best and most expensive players so expect him to be paid accordingly. The new TV deal has probably added about £10k a week to players wages as well.
