Exactly - but look at the state of other Welsh clubs. Have you any idea how Rhyl got on last weekend? I haven't. I can tell you how Edinburgh City did, but not Rhyl. I just don't think it's the best way to go.

You've hit on a much more important point there, mate. Crowd passion has vanished from Scotland. The big mystery is why? There was a time when every English first division team had two or three Scotsmen in it. They've gone! Scottish kids are still playing a lot of junior football, but they don't progress any more. The only hope is that enthusiasm comes back - but it won't without the Old Firm. That's the cash cow that might buy them time for a recovery. I hope they stay there..

The quality simply isn't there mate. It's not even Championship standard it's upper league one at best.

When I was first getting into football Scottish football was a bit more skilful and technical than English to watch, you look now and it's awful, laboured and mainly long ball stuff.

People will only accept ****e for so long, you know we have our moans but players like Defoe, like PVA on a good day, well they excite you.

There isn't any excitement in a slow clogged lashing the ball up and under.

I agree with the second part, definitely.

I'd much rather we just kick the Welsh ones out and leave it at that though.

Historically speaking, global football owes an awful lot to Scotland in terms of its development and the spreading of the game around the world. So its sad to see Scottish football in the state it is in. Decades of dominance by the Old Firm clubs has strangled the game in Scotland- kids in far flung parts of the country would rather support Celtic or Rangers than their local clubs. Conversely though, the league will deteriorate further without those clubs. However, as the Glasgow clubs owe their fame and fortune to the league which has allowed them to become predominant in their own country, I believe they should stay where they are and seek options that would create a more level playing field and even things up to make Scottish football more competetive and therefore more appealing. This wouldn't be a quick fix and it may take decades but is the only way that Scottish football will survive. If the EFL allows them in its a death sentence for the rest of Scottish football.

When yourself and many others say start at the bottom just exactly what do you mean. Are we talking about one league lower than the Football League, because that is not the bottom, at least now the way i think. Bottom means bottom not one step away from gaining League recognition.

They are fully formed proffesional clubs. One has even won the european cup ffs.

I think hoying them in division 5 is enough.

I think theres more room in yours than mine. Just the short of reply i expected from you, as your views and no one else is allowed to disagree with you. And you have the temerity to call me bitter.

Let's flip this and we go in the jock league.

We'd be half decent and our shot board, owner, budget and defeatist gaffer might be average instead of **** poor.

    Sound.

First things first - TheFalcon wa

First things first - The Falcon was right to point out the structure of the Football League.

On he other hand, Commo and Billy were right to point out that Scottish clubs have won the European Cup, (and I might add, at least two semi-finalists - Hibs and Dundee United) plus Aberdeen's mind-boggling triumph against Real Madrid in the Cup-Winner's Cup Final.

But when the Fourth Divisioh kicked Gateshead out in favour of Peterborough United, Gateshead applied to join the Scottish League. Their application wa turned down on the grounds that the SFL didn't want to expand as far south as Gateshead,. So it's difficult to see why the EFL should expand as far north as Glasgow now, isn't it?

I'm just trying to balance it up a bit lads. Not takijng sides. You all made valid points.
