How do people think we will fair in our first 6 games?

Arsenal home - I am hoping Nasri and Fabregas may be on the move but with just over a week left, I can't see it. There is too much unrest at the club and I fear that will show itself in the stands. Lose.

That lot away- They've reduced our allocation(probably because we have taken a couple of hundred in their end) and they keep spouting **** about us. Similar to last time. Their new team hasn't played together properly and Liverpool will be their first. I think they will lose that. My heart says draw, my head says draw. Hmm.

Fulham home - hate these home games. Our mentality going into them is shocking. Draw.

QPR - £55 for a ticket on a Monday night, I must be mad but I'll be there. I hope the players are told how much we have paid, might spark a bit of flair into the performance. Win.

Villa away - Tricky one, two big players left, but I honestly don't believe they were worth what was paid and plus, Young is a cheat. They have two old boys, N'Zog and Given, we haven't done well down Villa for a while. Lose.

Blackburn home - Lost the last 5 at home to the chicken shack. It's about time we got a win! Win!

    Thoughts?

Pretty much agree apart from Villa. Think we can get a result there, they're going to struggle this season.

Going into a new season with so much uncertainty about doesn't exactly fill you with confidence.

I normally go to the games expecting to win (the eternal optimist), but my enthusiasm has been blunted somewhat lately.

I don't think it'll be all doom and gloom but things could be so much better off the pitch than they are at the moment.

Remember the feeling when you would go to games against the likes of Fulham, Blackburn, Sunderland, just knowing you were going to win? Howay Sir Bobby, come back to life man!

I'm gonna take the optimistic stance on this one. I honestly don't think there's as much 'unrest' as people think. People have just discussed it so much and whipped themselves up into a frenzy.

    - Carroll left cos we were offered £35million quid
    - Nolan left cos he didn't get the long contract he wanted
    - Barton threw a strop cos he didn't get the contract he wanted
    - Enrique wants CL football

Enrique is the only one who has really made much point about ambition. The negativity from the others has all stemmed from not getting their own way contract-wise. I think some people forget that we have another 20 odd players at the squad, and there's absolutely no reason to suspect that any of them are as unsettled as those few. Some of them are new, some of them are toon legends who can inject some new team spirit. In reality, I think the squad is in good spirits and ready to crack on with the new season.

    Now, for my optimistic predictions:

Arsenal home - Lose or draw. They're a tough side, no doubt about it, and we need time to gel. I wouldn't be surprised if we lose this one.

Sunderland away - Win. On paper, I think we have a stronger starting 11 than Sunderland do, and with them buying almost an entirely new team, their team will probably end up being less gelled together than ours is. It also depends who else each team brings in before then.

Fulham home - Win or draw. Hopefully the new lads can shake off this habit we have of underestimating the opposition. Plus, Fulham will be tired after the Europa League games they have.

QPR away - Win or draw. We'll either do well, or we'll underestimate newly promoted opposition like we always do and lose.

Villa away - Draw or lose. They might have lost Young and Downing, but they're still a quality side with players like N'Zogbia and Bent. I don't expect us to be as good at away games compared to home games this season, so the Villa side may be a little too strong.

  7. We should beat Fulham at home. They barely ever win away from home.

I'd take a draw against the mackems purely because it's so early that a loss can have a huge effect on your season, plus its the away game so 4 points would still be a good haul if we were to get them. The optimist in me also says there is far more unrest at Arsenal and we may surprise them if Cabaye and Ba hit the ground running, and of course if Shola doesnt play.

  11. Arsenal - 1-2 loss
    Sunderland - I'm going to for a 1-1 draw
Fulham - 1-0 win. Fulham are poor on the road, we should beat them.
    Qpr - 2-2 draw.
    Villa - 2-1 loss
    Blackburn 3-1 win

Would be a decent start. 7/8 points after 6 games would be great.

6 games, 3 points (all draws) unless we bring a decent striker in. I can't see us scoring for sh*t.
