After yesterdays disaster where the whole team seemed uninspired to play to their potential Howson has stated that they now have two weeks to sort things out " we want to put things right" Howson also states: "The other games have been fine............................" I think many of us would argue against that Jonny. When asked about the performance at St. Andrew's Howson added "it was obviously disappointing. The performance wasn't there and obviously the result was just as bad." Why Jonny? Also, " In any game of football, if you are sloppy you'll get punished." Why was the team sloppy Jonny? Further, "As an overall performance it wasn't good enough. (why Jonny?) All of us at times today could have been better," Why weren't you better Jonny? Clearly we will never get answers to these questions, but in the circumstances I ask myself why were we so poor?

Yes CitySlicker - I totally agree with your statement abut previous games and let's hope they do get things 'sorted out' in the next 2 weeks.
As if your point needed reinforcing, these were the 'player ratings' given by Paddy Davitt and they make GRIM reading -

    • Michael McGovern. 6.0
Must have wondered what was going on from the men in front. No chance with any of the three home goals
    • Steven Whittaker 5.0
Not a shift to stake a claim for regular involvement. Failed to cut out the cross for the opener and then a clumsy slip conceded a penalty.
    • Ryan Bennett 5.5
Sporadic distribution of the ball. Little or no protection from midfield however.
    • Timm Klose 5.5
Dragged out of position on numerous occasions. Alarming lack of pace to allow the break that eventually led to Robert Tesche’s embarrassing miss.
    • Robbie Brady 5.0
Ball-watching at the far post for Birmingham’s opener. Not the first time we’ve seen it.
    • Alex Tettey 5.0
Costly late back pass punished by Clayton Donaldson. Indicative of a lack of composure throughout.
    • Jonny Howson 5.5
Second best alongside Alex Tettey in those central skirmishes.
    • Sergi Canos 5.5
Plenty of endeavour and appetite but a lack of guile in the key moments.
    • Jacob Murphy 7.0
The one bright spark. Looked to make things happen with his pace and directness.
    • Wes Hoolahan 5.5
Saw plenty of the ball but never on the same wavelength as Steven Naismith. Needs City to dominate midfield to really exert an influence.
    • Steven Naismith 5.0
Pushed further forward. Ineffective and hooked for Kyle Lafferty.

    City substitutes
    • Kyle Lafferty 5.5
    • Josh Murphy 5.5

FAR too many scores of below 6 and it it's no surprise we ended up getting thrashed.
Well AN and the rest of the coaching staff - it's time 'to earn your corn!!' and let's just hope that at least Pritchard, Olsson and Pinto are fully fit before the visit of Cardiff!!! <ok>

I see Murphy has signed for Newcastle.

Surely this puts a massive dent in any playoff aspirations the binners have.

Great signing for the Nukes - the big man/little man pairing of Murphy and Gayle (both signed in this transfer window) will be a massive threat to Championship defences.

It's also being reported that Derby are in for Kodjia (I thought he wasn't for sale)

Have we signed a striker yet ?

No way Pedro but I wouldn't piss about with embarrassing bids for players.

I'm sure that's one of the reasons we're having so much difficulty recruiting players!!

Just watched MotD2 and Citeh looked very impressive - NCFC players should be forced to watch that and see how many team mates get into the opposition's box when they're attacking.
I'm sure some referees might have sent Aguero off and it's going to be a tough one for the FA. Can't wait for the Manchester Derby!!!

Thanks for the reminder. I'm watching MOTD (1) now. Chelsea looked class. Hazard is definitely back!

Let's hope our under 23s show the first team how to play with desire and commitment when they visit Posh tomorrow evening. <ok>
