Davies had a great game, but he wasn't my man of the match. It's all about opinions but the Jak is my MOM as I think Davies was at fault for not being goal side of Rashford. The Jak could have done no more - Excellent handling, kicking, some excellent saves when we were really under pressure. Hugely underrated and well deserving of MOM, he could have done nothing about the goal. Jakupovic - By a mile. Davies - Outstanding, but no Cigar. As he indicated in his post match - you switch off for a second and you get punished. He did and we got punished. That's the difference. Third really tough choice as there's a few candidates between Elmo, Robbo, Clucas and Dio. Which I can't split!
Curtis immense again. Big Sam must be watching him. Clucas looked so comfortable. Anyone of Jak, Jake and Meyler(one great pass specifically).
Sammy Lee was there yesterday, presumably watching that lot. However, he cannot failed (CAN HE?) to have been impressed by 3 English Lions, Curtis, Livermore and Clucas. Curtis was mentioned on MOTD2 as one Allardyce might consider. Jake Livermore was, well, immense. Would imagine he knew the Jenas interview was shown earlier in the day, and given what was discussed no doubt that would have been in his mind. Did he put a foot wrong at any time? Some scalps he's got under his belt - Vardy, Zulu Abramovitch and the rest. CLUCAS WAS ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING AS HE HAS BEEN IN ALL 3 LEAGUE GAMES. Shrugged off challenges early in the game from Rooney, let all of their A listers know that he was there and looked composed at all times. And the rest of 'The 13' were equally in good form. Special mention for Phelan - let's give him the job eh?
It was Elmo who switched off, and if anything Harry and Livermore had better chances to intercept Rooney's pass before it got to Rashford. Having said that small margins...
Elmo should have dealt with Rooney, but Davies was picking up Rashford. Not a huge criticism as our players were out on their feet.
Yes, when he tried to usher the ball out and had it took off him. Nearly costly. All played well defensively. Not enough going forward and having a go. Davies' career has been dogged by inconsistency.
Not fair to critisise any player after the overall performance, but the goal came because Rooney got past Elmo, then slotted the ball through Livermore's legs and Maguire stood and watched. Blaming Davies is a bit unjust.
Mike Phelan and the 14 are a set of silly ****s who know **** all about how to play football. Sack em all Ehab, sack the **** out of em
Big Harry was the biggest culprit imo. As second man after Elmo's skinning by Rooney, he should have gone to ground to block any possibility of a low ground pass. He'd only just come on, and should have had the energy to do it. So what if the ball bounced off him for an o.g. It would have created a dilemma for Rooney - he would only be able to chip the ball in the air, which would have given Yack & Davies a chance to clear the ball when airborne. Very basic error by 'Arry I'm afraid once Elmo was beaten. He just stood and admired Rooney's pass. Easy for me to say mind !
