Who knows, maybe they didnt know about the release clause until it was too late, or didnt anticipate him leaving his local club where he just qualified for the CL and won the domestic double. Arsenal were after him a year or 2 ago.
Same reason why we got Tiote, why we got Ben Arfa, why you got Sessegnon and so on. Sometimes clubs can just go in under the radar, do their research and grab quality players who haven't (yet) been caught up in a load of media hype.
Only time will tell Smudger but judging my why me geordie pals are telling me he looks a cracking player with a good delivery from set pieces. But as I have said to them thats friendlies and a much slower paced french league even Gyan who is a fantastic player said when he came he could not believe the pace the premiership is played at. I of course understand the optimism mind if you aint got that what else ya got eh..
I think we are too. But then when we really put our minds to it we can attract good players and get deals done quickly out of the public eye....which is why I'm always sceptical when there is big media talk of us signing someone (a la Gervinho)
Let them move. But if it was acriss all the clubs in Europe it would be a level playing field. You might also find that if Europe pays less than the rest of thw world would not have to, as the richest clubs are all in Europe. Even if it went to an average of £10K per week (half a million a year!) a club could pay say thre players at £30K and the rest at lower figures. You could in theory pay al of it to one player and the rest not getting paid. (I know that that is never goingto happen but the point is with a club limit each club will decide what is best for them.
Got to be optimistic! I think he will need to get used to the pace, but when he does I'm confident we'll have a very good player on our hands from what I've seen, current France international as well.
It is an insult to be headhunted and offered less imo. Might not of needed to go public with it, but it is a bit insulting. 40,000 a week is normal in football so you cant say "compared to the national average" - cos no top footballer is paid the national average. If a company came headhunting me, and offered me less that my current salary (which is higher than the average as well) then i would be saying to myself "wtf, they want me but think i am worth less than I am currently earning? screw 'em". "Hey, we think you are good but not good enough for us to match your current wages, want to work for us?" The only way I would possibly consider a drop in wages it is if the job was way better in terms of future opportunities or working conditions --> none of which would be offered to him at NUFC.
Thats a good point Chappaz we got Sessy for 6m i think and he looks a cracking buy for that kind of cash.
Most of your sensible fans know what the score is with Ashley, everyone on the outside looking in can see what he is doing, yet you choose to ignore it.
Let them. Players demands are slowly killing our game. If clubs or the FA dont act, then in another 5 or 10 years, there will be a complete and utter meltdown of the English game and if that happens, everyone will be in **** straights.
I'm not ignoring anything and you have no real insight to presume otherwise. You presume a lot; don't you.
No it wouldn't. All the star players would move out of Europe where they could get more money, and the European game would suffer. Leagues in places like Brazil would become absolutely dominant.
I want you to tell me. If it's so obvious it should be easy for you. Just outline it. Back it up with facts as well please...
