Will the real Cerny Berny please stand up!

I have been sitting in the background nice and quietly, waiting for updates from all the ITK's and chosen ones! only to find myself laughing at the new found 'messiah' status of CernyBerny!!! Now dont get me wrong lads, it makes for great reading and makes me smile, but i think some are going way over the top on a very thin slice of info that in all honesty has turned out to be nothing but guess work. Lets compare what we were told by this illustrious, future telling hero. THURSDAY is the day! of which week, month or year is a bit uncertain. A Russian named Mordy something or other, yet Warnock calls him Tony!. Conspiracy theories enter the fray now as surely he must be a front man for the invisible Mordy or the Mittals! He is only worth so much and surely cant afford to buy us out! These sorts of deals take time to complete but are apparantly always done on Thursdays!

Shoot me down if you want but you guys are treating this like he's the 'Second coming'!

 

Some fair comments, Barry, but no one can really judge Cerny until the final outcome is known. If it is Mordy that buys the club, surely no one is going to jump on his case just because he got the timing a bit wrong. He enlightened us!

If it isn't...well, hopefully he'll give us a corrective update before the new owner is announced

The whole ownership business is frustrating, and Cerny is cryptic at times but I guess he needs to protect his source. Hope the Goons are gone before kick off on the 13th!

Even if Cerny B was a complete fraud, he's been worth his weight imo. He's helped lift the doom and gloom on this board and replaced it with a bit of fun where we can speculate on a few clues that didn't originate in the media.

If that equates to seer status for some then so be it. Big difference between that and a Messiah... Cerny himself advises caution, down plays his source(s) and indicates margins of error.

So far he's been right in saying there'd be ownership-related news announced on a particular Thursday; that crucially there is no interest whatsoever from Mittal; and that beyond Fernandez there are others in the mix - as subsequently confirmed by Ecclestone.

Pretty good for someone who's just guessing and teasing... way ahead of journalists whose job it is to remain ITK.

However, Cerny's gone a step further in naming the previously unknown Mordashov as an interested party. Pretty brave for a fraud. Whether this comes through or not it'll be interesting to see whether the Russian had made an enquiry / bid. Time will tell.

Who know's which way the wind blows? For me anyway, Cerny seems to have a fair idea at times. No more and no less but many of us reckon a fair idea is a bone well worth chewing on as we await the outcome of the Goon show.

 

We don't see much of Dave Mc these days, after the welcome he received.

A great shame on the face of it - but difficult to see how his presence on here wouldn't conflict with his job... except maybe in feeding back our responses to his articles.

Anyway, I'm sure he keeps his eye on MBs generally... ripe pickings for material on the fans' angle.

 

I have no doubt that some of the ITKs do actually know something. What annoys me more than anything else are the smug comments like "you're going to be really happy soon" and "You'll have to wait and see" or "wait until the third Friday of the month when Pisces is dominant in Uranus". These posters are WUMS, a paticular kind of WUM, but a WUM nonetheless. If you know something (or think you know something) then say it. They like to drip feed tantalizing little bits of information onto the board and watch everyone running around making guesses and assumptions, getting deleriously happy or bloody angry. Wind everybody up and take pleasure in watching them run around like headless chickens.

 

Fair comments, but I think the point being made in the article is that some people are treating Cerny like the font of all knowledge. And I would add that I suspect, although I obviously can't know for sure, our Cerny loves all the attention and adulation!!
By the way, didn't he also claim that Palladinio was gone a while back?
As far as I'm aware that hasn't happened either!!

However, I still stand by my promise of a full apology if this Mordy becomes the owner.

 

Everyone speculates on here - that's much of the point of a discussion site after all. But Cerny puts his one liners in to look like authorative snippets from insider conversations. In the absence of any official news people cling on to those words as they would a life raft in a storm and they take on much more significant than they should. I certainly think he could do a little more than just punch in a few tantalizing words that are more like crossword clues than information. Why the need to be cryptic anyway? With a bit more presentation we would probably treat the comments the same way we do other folks who constantly speculate on here rather than like our man in Havana.

Dunno, but I'm thinking whoever loses the Cerny v RangerCol fight should run the perimeter of the pitch in his boxer shorts before the Bolton game...

 

Col and QPAAAAAGH: It seems your reticence, and that of the OP, has more to do with your disgust at the gullibility-cum-desperation of some of us on here as opposed to what Cerny B contributes per se.

You're right though QPAAAAAGH, Cerny does add a puzzle page effect to our speculative magazine.

I'd like to think Cerny's more cryptic entrees were intentionally stylistic but that perspective requires purpose and discipline that's difficult to maintain at the best of times. More plausible imo is the urge to add more info into clues already given, and having to disguise this to protect sources thus appearing to become more cryptic and frustrating for some.

Should he come clean and simply tell like it is? Some how I doubt he could but now we've got this far, it would remove a dimension of our board for me. Be a bit like taking the puzzle page away...

Last point. Does Cerny B enjoy antagonising us? I'm sure there's a grain of truth in that. As Eamon observes, there's a wum factor in all this - albeit imo intelligent wumming... and what's wrong with that?!!

I didn't initially believe that this cernyberny was the same as the old one on 606 - who had the jump on a few announcements previously. I think they are the same now, but even if he works for the club - it doesn't make him privvy to boardroom decisions (unless he's actually Bernie himself). So I take what he says with a pinch of salt. Besides I get the impression Warnock and the team haven't a clue what is going on, so its unfair to expect CB to give us a running commentary

 

Disgust is a strong word Brixton and, in fact the wrong word. Also, I see this board as a bit of light relief as well as a very useful way of finding out about the club and what others think etc. I really couldn't care less whether Cerny is really ITK or just wumming and I agree that his posts have definitely added something to the board. My main point is that I suspect he enjoys winding people up and keeping them guessing. It's all good fun and shouldn't be taken too seriously.
However, I will still post against the majority opinion if that's the way I see it.
In this case, I suspect he's full of it!! But I'm ready with my apology as soon as is appropriate!!
