Says the express. Without a quote to back it up. http://www.dailyexpress.co.uk/posts...son-s-won-race-to-land-star-Jordan-Henderson/ Welbeck + ÃÆÃââââ¬à ¡ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã10mil and we could be talking.
I know people will not agree with what I am about to say but I don't care 2weeks ago we couldn't afford to lose Darren Bent and from my 606 article that I got slated for have a look at that if you don't believe me. Players come and go and looking at our squad now if 1 player leaves so what I like Jordan but he aint worth 20m no way I would try and involve Welbeck in the deal if not take the 20m find a replacement for Henderson and put the rest towards other targets that would be 44m for 2 of our players we could go out and get 4 or 5 very good players to improve us all around the pitch
I know it's heresy, but 20M is far too much to resist. Good business. Welbeck and a hefty sum even better. We all love Jordan, but this is crazy money if real.
Would be an offer too good to refuse i.m.o. We've now got a whole glut of midfielders and it'll be hard to fit them all in, steed and bolo are now going to become bit parters, clattermole may only play certain games unless he gets a holding midfield role in front of back four. Another striker is what we need so why not swap hendo for wellbeck and get some cash too sometimes find it hard to understand why good breakthrough players would want to go to such a big outfit as man u or chelski as they will be lucky to get a game , point in example is someone like scott parker, was big fish at charlton, breaking into england squad, signed for the blues and disappeared off the radar barely getting a game, has shown since that he is a class player
I hate saying this but we must resist "small club mentality" if we want to truly move to Top Club status. I don't believe that daft newspaper article for one moment. It’s like the Guardian’s "scoop" that Gareth Bale was worth a ÃÆÃââââ¬à ¡ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã40m bid from Inter (or whoever). The thing is that SAF is a canny manager. Like he paid ÃÆÃââââ¬à ¡ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã30m for Berbatov and drove him to Manchester personally, in his own motor IIRC. For two years, The Berb effectively failed to deliver on his potential, but look at him now. My point is that if SAF rates Hendo, then we should see added incentive to keep him, nurture him and build a team around him. I have absolutely no doubt that Hendo at age 26 will be a World Quality star. So - will SAFC cash in soon for a quick win, or will we aim to jostle with the likes of ManU? I know what I want to see - Hendo staying put. That is the measure of the club's ambition IMO. Let's see how it all turns out regarding Hendo by August 2011.
On the other hand to that mate what ever SAF wants he usually gets but I would still stick with take the 20m and improve the team all over Man United are good enough to wait for a player like Berbatov to come back they will always be up there fighting it out for the title and the champions league
Aye you make a good point, you do have to think, if he's progressed this sharpish, what'll he be like in a year or 2s time. Needs considering. On that note, i'm away to kip.
United could offer North East born Michael Carrick as part of the deal but it is believed that Bruce would prefer Ferguson to allow him to keep on-loan Danny Welbeck why would we want a 30 year old midfielder well past his best when we have Steed and Bolo I tell s ir alec to go away and think again no Welbeck no deal
Morning All. Probably all just media hype but I would have to side with Poolie on this. 20 Million for Henderson we would be mad not to take that amount of money, personally I would ask for Welbeck & Evans in a straight swap. SAF would never take this but worth a try. Even Welbeck and 10 million? I don't know but one thing for certain 20 Million I would pull their arm off for that deal.
I'm with poolie, all these people agreeing with him will make his heed grow. I would love to keep Jordon and see him grow with us, I'm sure he would love to stay and Bruce would love to keep him but we live in the real world. 20 year old footballer and Man U come knocking with 20 mil offer, would it not make you feel rather special and a little tempted, it would me. Manager or chairman of an improving team with the basis of a really good squad. Finish in top 10 of prem and you have a good midfield because of good buys in the January window, good defence and goalkeeper but could do with better striker options and maybe some extra quality and experience in midfield. The bulk of the 24mil from Bent in the bank and the chance to help a young player move up and at the same time add 20mil more to the transfer pot. Would you be tempted, I would.
I'm with Poolie as well. I like Jordan Henderson. Local lad and he he may grow to be a world class midfielder. The key word there is may. Yes he has had a great 18 months but how many times have we seen promising young lads show huge potential but for it never to materialise. Don't get me wrong, I don't mean to sound negative because I like the lad but these things need to be looked at in perspective. ÃÆÃââââ¬à ¡ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã20 million for a potentially great player? If we do decide to let him go, it would be crazy to in this window. Wait until the summer and only if Muntari's loan move turns to a permanent one. Plus I would try and factor Wellbeck into the deal. Sir Alex wants Jordan, we want Danny.... Who blinks first!!!!
I would ask for welbeck in return or its a no go fergie was quick to say we had no chance of having welbeck so we should do the same back to him .Jordan will want to go now if he knows man utd are interested and i couldnt blame him but we need to stand firm no welbeck no hendo
Yep, seems a bit lop sided that the reason he does not want to let Welbeck go is because he is a young player with a great future. The reason he wants Henderson is because he is a........................................... win, win to Fergie if he gets away with that one
Yep, absolutely shocking journo-junk. I'll buck popular opinion with Danny56 - Whilst 20mill would be nice, I'd rather keep him and let Bruce and Co develop him as one of our own. It's good to have one of our own at the club, rather than a team of 'outsiders' (don't call me racist). It makes me feel proud & sends out the right message to the big clubs that we aren't sellers & encourages the strong youth ranks coming through. He won't come into his own until he's 24 and if things go the right way we'll get a lot more money for him then.
Like many, my view is that this is lazy journalism. IF though ,this had any substance I would be telling SAF to do one. From a SAFC perspective the team has produced better results this season and further, the squad strength and depth continues to improve - prospects are brighter now more so than in decades!! We have a pretty young squad and the potential for them to grow and WIN things together is substantial. SAFC do not need to sell and does JH feel he HAS to move??? Man U have an urgent need to replace Scholes and Giggs. Their teams of late without these 2 have spluttered at best and SAF KNOWS he has to do something about his midfield problem urgently. If he wants JH then it has to be ÃÆÃââââ¬à ¡ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã30m or so. I've waited for over 40 years to see SAFC in such a healthy state, I'm NOT wanting to see our best and brightest sold when the outlook is like this.
Young Jordan has been fantastic in our last few games, mags aside. Why would we want to sell one of our better players ? 20m or not. Brucie is building a team better than anyone of us have ever seen, there's no point selling our bright young stars, I agree wholeheartedly with 56danny on this, if he's worth 20m now think what he will be in a few years time under the management of Brucie.
