Anyway, i was in the pub last nite with my mates and we was discussing the game against Real Betis on Saturday. My mate darren says that betis is the capital of Spane and that they have 2 football teams - Real Betis and Imaginary Betis. iâm glad weâre playing Real Betis coz i wouldnât like to fork out a lot of money to watch a team that doesnât exist. My mate ashley is clever, like - heâs got a decree in history. He showed me a very old betting slip which dates back to 1588. The slip says âBet 1sâ and was made by King Phillip II of Spane who bet one shilling that the spanish armada would win against the English. And thatâs how the name âBetisâ came into being - isnât that fassinating! My mate andy says that if the ref gives Swansea a penalty on saturday then betis will bring on the spanish inkwizishen. They will torture him and maybe burn him alive on the centre spot. I think thatâs a bit harsh, like, coz the ref has a difficult job and maybe it really will be a penalty. Do you think we should start a petition to stop this happening in the fewcher?
