If a player is good enough he should fit in during training or why play him...There is too much of this "he will need time to settle in Malarkey" If the are suppose to be good then they should be able to slot in and do their job and if they cant then whoever brought that player in has not done his homework on the player... Like Jenkins does...

Fer - average at best, he's shown that over 6-7 months.
Van de Hoorne - might be ok but I doubt he's good enough to replace Ash at a cost of £2m at present.
    Llorente - decent back up
Baston - will come good once he settles.

As for equating cost to quality, unless you're Liverpool or Newcastle, you usually get what you pay for.

Dai, you have no idea how old I am, and your age doesn't mean you are some kind of authority on the club. The simple fact is you change your opinion so much, so often no sod knows what you stand for, you contradict yourself daily, sometimes in the same thread, sometimes in the same post!

I don't look at other forums at all, I have no interest in the whining of posters from planet swans or the jack army lot crying about things. I prefer to post here when I can be bothered. You are enough of a windbag to put up with. I'll await your licking Huw's arse when we land up in the top ten this season.

Monk is a failure, and you are as well as you've changed your name from Monk's Hero I believe, you've also changed it from Superswan77 and other similar names, did the figure equate to IQ? You did have it at 99 as well I think.

Oh my, so all those teams relegated to the championship who have spent wildly got value for money on their players? I'll have to remember that at Villa, Cardiff, Wigan, Norwich and many others.

There's a difference between spending widely and spending serious money to sign quality players. Quality costs, and we are lacking in it at the back and in midfield.

No we are not! We have plenty of quality that hasn't cost huge sums to put together, the problem is that you think we are some kind of Man City who has a bottomless pit of money that we should spend on a whim! Sorry but it's not ever going to happen at our club no matter who owns us or in what position we land up in this league.

We are above Arsenal, Leicester, Southampton, Stoke and Watford? Oh and Sunderland have nailed their seasonal position in the drop zone in just the first two games, that leaves just two places left, and it will not be us..........<cheers>

Hmmmm.........seems to me waaaaaaaay too early to be confident and equally waaaaaay to early to be spreading doom and gloom. Last game was poor but what team goes through a season without a poor game or two? When we've strung a few poor performances together then maybe some questions need answering.

So we have 8-10 quality players in a squad of 23-24? I agree.

Just a few days ago everyone seemed to be purring about our squad and our signings and were giving Ash virtual back slaps, wishing him all the best and thanking him for his service. He deserved his move, we said.

Now, after one poor game which we dominated yet failed to click up front, Guidolins Department I think, Huw Jenkins is mysteriously being blamed by some for us losing to Hull???. He's been dragging his feet in the transfer market apparently. The signings we were happy with were made as soon as they could have been and any hold up was completely due to the takeover and not because anyone was dragging their feet.

I believe we didn't sign bony because we couldn't afford his wages and I believe we didn't sign Joe because we already had a plethora of midfielders. Guidolin made no bones about wanting Fer and he got him and that if anything blocked any move for Joe. Guidolin made his choice. It may have been different if Jo was a goal scoring midfielder but he's not and that too impacted the owners decision not to go for him, Guidolin had already got his man, imo.

We are not going to make any magic signings that'll turn this squad of disparate players into a tight machine, that's Guidolins job, he's the manager and he's employed a raft of hand picked coaches and assistants to help achieve this.

I truly believe we have a squad good enough to succeed this season the question is, do we have a manager capable enough to get them to click.

First ten games will tell whether he's good enough or not.

Some are whining about the up coming fixtures but we've beaten all the teams we're due to play so lets go play them then we'll find out if Guidolin is the weakest link, 10 games to see if he's good enough. That's how I see it, its all about Guidolin.

5 words gents ..." we'll be happy by Christmas ".
Give it a bit of time at least before you start hanging the players and manager.

Hope so Roof, because we could be ****ed after the next 6 games. The trouble is, it's going to take these games for Llorente and Baston, when he recovers to get used to the team.

We dont have enough quality and i dont think we have a quality manager anyway.....A yes man is not quality in my book, He has to believe in himself to be able to run everything to do with the playing side of things including telling the board this is what i want now go out and do the deal....
