Yeah, Keithy "faded" by winning the UEFA Cup and leaving Shreeves with
a squad that would go on to make a decent push for the league title.

After leaving Spurs is the subject RDBD. I said a lot of coaches do nothing after leaving Spurs.

Great games but tainted for me by the two ludicrous decisions, (1) to allow the US women's 4x100m team to run again, and (2) the disqualification of the GB 4x400m team. It's hard enough when we're not sure if all the athletes are drug clean, but we should be able to rely on the decisions of the authorities in the stadium. These decisions have impact on people that have trained day in day out for years. In the sprint relay case for example, the team getting silver might have got gold, and so on with the fourth placed team not getting a medal which might have been the highlight of someone's athletic career. The GB disqualification still has not been adequately explained.

Neymar's winning penalty in the Olympic final:

I'm sorry, but that shouldn't count. He stops.

More nonsense scoring in the boxing, as Yoka picks up rounds that he clearly didn't win.
Joyce can be rightfully disappointed in the usual bullshit. There's got to be a better way than this, surely?

  8. Agreed - and made all the worse by the arrogance of the French fighter doing an Ali-shuffle in the 3rd round as if he had walked the bout :emoticon-0132-envy:

He knew that he'd won. His mates watching it clearly didn't think so before the scores were announced, though.
    Funny that.

I've enjoyed the Olympics and I must say, what a first class presenter, Clare Balding is.

I wasn't sure if it was just me being biased - the first round especially was an absolute joke.

Yoka obviousy knew what the judges were looking for with his gloves up defense strategy, while Joyce gets punished for actually throwing punches and trying to make a spectacle of it.

BBC put a fantastic team together all round I thought, unusually I didn't find myself annoyed by a single one of them.

I thought Balding, Gabby Logan and Hazel Irvine were all top class, and great foils for the more expert voices of Hoy, Adlington, Lewis, and Johnson. Proof if it was needed that sports broadcasting doesn't need to be dominated by men. The contrast with BBC and Sky's third rate, platitude spouting football panels is stark...

Sadly we did not see other Japanese dignitaries dressed as Sonic the Hedgehog, Ryu, Cloud Strife or Leon S Kennedy

  15. Agree almost 100% with this, Hoy in particular was brilliant. Just a couple of minor exceptions.....
    - The two doing the Diving events started to grate.... Lots of private banter and smugness..... the former diver (can't remember his name) was very knowledgable but his constant use of joke rhyming slang was annoying.
    - The guys doing the golf commentary weren't great and didn't offer much insight. In fact, the golf coverage wasn't great at all.

But otherwise the general standard across the board was excellent <ok>

Balding is quite possibly the least stereotypical pick for a modern, female, television sports presenter.
She ticks virtually all of the boxes that are usually used for men, though.
Perhaps there's a lesson in there for those that are involved in these choices?

Helen Skelton was a little irritating in the swimming as well. Her desperation to flash her, admittedly very nice, legs was very funny.

Be thankful that London isn't hosting the next Olympics, or we'd have had to see Theresa May dressed as Lara Croft...

Firstly I would like to say that I have thoroughly enjoyed the Olympics and the success of the team GB competitors has been phenomenal. However do I get a fed up with people saying it’s a shame that our footballers are crap in comparison, yes I was as disappointed at our performance at the Euro’s as the next man but we before we suggest that every Olympian is a better performer than any footballer let’s look at the facts.

How many of the Olympians played 50 competitive matches in the 42 weeks before the Olympics, most of which were in what is regarded as the most intense and competitive league in the world. Some Olympians spend 4 years building up in order to peak for the Olympic games, not a luxury your average international footballer is allowed. When our cyclists didn’t perform their Olympic style heroics in the world championships was it plastered all over the newspapers? No - because outside of the Olympics no one actually cares that much.

People will also then talk about the money the footballers earn and whilst I agree that footballers wages are ridiculous, the money that they are paid is all generated by the game or by their wealthy owners, there is no public funding or lottery grants (unless you are West Ham!)
