You could give this to any of those you've mentioned Ron. I'd say Jason Kenny (joint most GB Golds) and Alistair Brownlee (2 time Olympic Tri Champ) would be my top 2. But then even as I've typed that the Trott lass has to come into it. Don't the girls get less medal opportunities in the cycling than the lads?

And I forgot, Peaty, Whitlock and Froome! <doh>Give it a miss this year I reckon. Give GB Olympic Team the team prize and create a new God trophy for Bolt.

Can't understand why Gareth Bale is up there. I can't see him in the top 3

Mo Farah 4/7 for a top 3 finish must be one of the best odds on shots of the year

At the moment we're all caught up in olympics fever, and rightly so to be fair as its been a great olympics for team GB, so its easy to have those that have done well at the front of our minds. Based on the whole year though(so far) and not just 2 weeks worth my two front runners would be Andy Murray and Chris Froome.

Murray has been in amazing form all year, reaching the final of both the Australian and French opens, and of course winning Wimbledon and the olympic gold medal, plus various other tournaments with hopefully more to come(he's playing in another final as I type). And Froome was brilliant in winning his 3rd Tour de France, with help from his Team Sky teammates, lets not forget their efforts. He then went onto the olympics and won bronze in the time trial, brilliant from him given his efforts in France and the short turn around in tournaments.

Taking nothing away from anyone else on the list, its been a good year for British sport, but these two stand out to me.

Yes there are a lot of genuine contenders this year. Quite a few who might have walked it in another year

David Walsh of The Sunday Times, who single handedly hounded and exposed Lance Armstrong, seems to think there is something of the dark about Mo's connection with a couple of very questionable coaches in his recent past.

His article in todays sports section was surprising,in light of Mo's Rio achievements, and suggests Farah has questions he needs to answer in order to stop them being asked over and over again.

He doesn't suggest Farah isn't "clean" but thinks he needs to explain the exact nature of the relationships and their timeline and why he missed two prearranged testing appointments.

If he continues to give this subject weekly column space then 5/2 looks poor value.

I think and hope he is barking up the wrong tree with this latest crusade.

Ron <laugh>...I don't think The Sunday Times sports section has that big a clout..a lot of people skim over Walsh's column.

He's a long way short of his predecessor,Hugh McIlvanney, who was compulsive reading.

People have been talking about this drugs thing for a long time Dex. Just a 30 second search brought up the link below. It's from 2011. There is no proof that Mo cheats, but many are wondering about the the man's improvements. And when Alberto Salazar is added into the mix, things look even murkier. Does Mo cheat? Buggered if I know. But being the pessimist that I am when it comes to world class athletics, I wouldn't be rocked to my socks if one day he tested positive. And I'm not singling Mo in particular, I personally have suspicions about all medalists in most Olympic athletic events.
