Yes. 9 wins followed by a draw and a win and then a home loss to Darlington. Went to every home match that season except the Man U. FA Cup game. Cartermania ruled!
Which of course was taking the piss out all the screechy anti SB petulance. Accept it ladies, he's our best ever manager. Pragmatic results-based promotions and trips to Wembley a speciality. Oh and his signings. They came up trumps again yesterday, Maloney and Hernandez.
Does anyone have direct quotes of Swansea's manager saying they didn't deserve to lose? I watched his presser and he said he had absolute respect for any opponent including us, and the way we played, which he had no issues with, but explained that it was hard to break us down with 11 behind the ball (which I don't agree with) but I didn't see him say they didn't deserve to lose?
He is our best ever manager and he did make some good signings. What's even better, is we now seem to have someone who knows what to do with those signings. Happy days.
Mike Phelan is doing exceptionally well and long may it continue. Is 2 games enough to assess his worthiness for the role? Does the fact that the players want him make a scrap of difference for the new owners? No idea. Just hope we appoint the right manager.
Yeah, Antonio Valencia tore us a new one that day, and Emile Heskey stayed on his feet for the full game,, now theres a first.
Also this http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/hull-city-defended-11-men-11777693 "It was not brilliant but we didn't deserve to lose because we attacked for 95 minutes. Hull defended for 93 minutes with 11 players behind the ball with an attitude of not to move. This is our job and we have to accept it. I respect the opponents and say nothing because they can play whichever way they want." Also the HDM said we had to weather a "long storm", I actually didn't think it was anything like that bad. In the second half in particular they looked completely out of ideas. We probably had as many good chances as them, and had a penalty appeal that most seem to think should have been given. I only remember Jak having one save to make when he pushed the ball onto the bar. He's a manager looking for excuses as he anticipates the heat coming his way.
Computers were in their infancy back then, the internet (as we know it) hadn't been invented. I'm sure the boffins who developed computer science and technology would be gutted to know that their labour has enabled the likes of 'ATTACKTIGER' to diffuse his 'thoughts' to a cyber audience. Back then a pocket calculator and a telephone would have been more than enough to keep him busy.
As somebody posted on twitter, talk about irony, an Italian complaining about a side that can defend, the Italian invented that type of football, and are proud of it.
