It's the deafening silence from the club that is of major concern and is fueling the anxiety and speculation amongst many of the fans. Until the chairman or manager comes out with a clear statement of what the future plans are, the speculation will continue and fan frustration is in danger of boiling over.
I wouldn`t expect the club to broadcast transfer negotiations to all and sundry but there`s little or no comment about anything. They`re all working really hard though.
This is a good article and pretty much sums up the mood.... http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/spor.../younes-kabouls-move-watford-another-11772148
We are all concerned, and feeling the lack of positivity from the club (so, in a way, they are right) but we should bear in mind the fact that a part of The Comical's (bastards) remit is to spread negativity about S.A.F.C. . . . . and we're doing a canny job of that by ourselves (I use the word 'we're' generically)
yeah, there's loads to be optimistic about and i have no idea why people would be pessimistic. it's not like we've started each of the last 5 years terribly, sacked our manager before christmas and just scraped survival. look at what's happened over the summer: get rid of deadwood that shouldn't be anywhere near top flight football by letting contracts expire and recoup nothing FA court and 'steal' best manager we've had in years (they should have been held to ransom over the compensation fee) bring in 4 young 'uns who might work out do nothing to improve paper-thin squad, leaving us with: one (sort of) left back one terrible right back first choice centre backs from last season both request to leave no cover for extensive midfield injuries no move for mvila no attempt to tie kirchoff to extended contract kids in front of Khazri and Lens in pecking order no sign of a second, third or fourth striker luxury loan signing who we have no chance of signing permanently i think this is the year the bubble bursts, we get relegated and i can finally give my season ticket up. FFS, this perennial struggle ruins my weekends. until then i'll begrudgingly go, sing my heart out for the lads and try not to suffer a rage-induced aneurysm.
I am as guilty as anybody in banging on negatively, I cannot help it I care to much, I am just fed up every year going into the early part of the season ill prepared and playing catch up. You and I and this club deserve better than this WBA, Stoke, Palace bandying 20 and 30 mill bids, even boro and Bournemouth 12/15 mill signings, hell we not even keeping up with championship clubs.
I've bashed our owner. Not SAFC. The club will always have my back and I believe I'm standing up for it as a fan who thinks it's being badly ran.
Still maintain had we invested adequately prior to this season then crisis after crisis this summer would simply have been solvable problems. A lot of **** has been flung at the club beyond it's control this summer. It's our inability to deal with them which is the problem and that's thanks to year on year poor running of the club Bigger picture for me. I think many are focusing too much on the events Short can't control (Kaboul and Kone wanting to leave, Sam leaving, injuries)instead of Short's ability to actually deal with the events(something he can control).
We still need a striker and right back. Stoke and Palace have spent big, how long before Bournemouth, Hull tigers hehe become a bigger club than ours. That programme will need big editing before Sunday !
i agree. but i find it hard to separate the two really and there's nothing to say one doesn't influence the other. players want to leave because BSA and others have/want to leave and not enough have come in. when i look at it, anyone wanting to leave, be it manager, staff or player, should only be allowed to when it benefits the club. sam - you can leave for your dream job but we want adequately compensated from the cash rich FA. kaboul - you can leave if you have personal reasons but not to another english top flight rival. kone - you can move to a top 6 club if any of them match our valuation. in this market, £30m. the fact short hasn't done any of this does show he must've had some monumental luck or a lot of uncredited help in making his 'billions' cos his running of SAFC is highly questionable.
Ha! I was trying to give the bloke a of leeway but you're dead right fella. Ellis made his money stripping assets and liquidating companies. He demolishes, he doesn't build.
Lone Star Funds. Short has even had international arrest warrants placed on his due to the lack of ethics and law breaches in his aggressive approach of buying foreign companies and stripping them down.
