You sound pleased that in all likelihood Cellino is staying put.

Swans' fans are not the most reliable people to listen to when it comes to discussing Managers.
Both Martinez and Rodgers were vilified once they moved on to a higher level.
Laudrup was lauded as long as he was winning.
Then they turned on him, rather viciously.
Monk was welcomed with open arms, and seen as the saviour of the Club.
Things were O.K. for a while, but when performances, etc., tailed off, the vilification turned towards him, and he was toast.

Football supporters and Managers - too often a toxic combination.

Time will tell... Monk has never won promotion, he has never managed a team in the Championship he hasn't ever won a trophy.

If he is given breathing space he can make a massive name for himself or it might be a total disaster.

First of all, I claim no ITK info. Just a few perspective comments based on what I've read (some bits more likely than others).

The stories doing the rounds seem to agree that there are 3 bids, each at varying stages. 2 are of Chinese origin & fronted by our Italian friend. The third is this UK-based consortium, which has apparently completed DD. There is no mention of an exclusivity period, however it would be surprising if one was not in place - which would explain why the other 2 bids are currently unable to move forward.

And you believe this but nothing else?

No, this has been bubbling under for months. It now appears to be firming up as more details & corroboration drops into place. What point are you trying to make with this statement? You're simply stating the obvious from your own little world as far as I can see. Is it supposed to be controversial?

So you're now a spokesman for all consortiums now, are you? If they want to make money, there are countless other ways to make it. Throwing money into a money pit of a football team doesn't get very high up on the list for making money - and consortiums are well aware of this. You don't appear to be.

What a fcuking stupid point! Isn't it obvious that they put every penny they had on the first favourite at Acsot & won?

He didn't start it. He's one of the last 2 'TOMA Summary' updates that's been published. Relatively few posts make it to the summary, btw. As for GFH - who cares? Unnecessary that they do 'spill' in my world, but boy, it could be very interesting.

Is it important to you that they're friends?

Is he? Got any links? I can find zilch to support your statement.

    Perhaps he's not selling?
Perhaps he's been given money by the 'consortium' to buy?
    Perhaps he's bumped his head?

    Are you for real?

Whatever makes you think he's firing him? Just because the Daily Jackanory makes up a story that's completely unsubstantiated & unfounded, but feeds the TTGM morons & sells papers? There is no problem to pass on. Unless you can convince us otherwise.

Would you rather he refused to buy anyone & leave us with last season's squad? Do you really think it was an alternative? Do you think it would increase the selling price? Get a grip, man!

And btw, no bid is ever 100% guaranteed to succeed, especially when Cellino is involved. It could be a long drawn out process, especially if the Chinese interest is invited to bid. (Assuming there is any bids at all, of course).

If Monk does well I haven't a problem with his lack of experience, I just don't share the same excitement about him as a few others. I won't knock him if he does well but I'm not going to big him up when he has nothing to his name.

When we appointed Evans I thought it was Hockaday all over again, I admitted I was wrong and I felt Evans did a much better job than he had been given credit for.

In another post I have asked a question to Doc who listed a string of positives over his coaching skills achieved in 6 months.

Do I want Monk sacked? No, if he is (sacked) within the next few weeks then I think I might give up until Cellino is out. Am I confident he will be here in 6 games time? No unless we start winning a few

If I'm honest, I'd have preferred if Evans stayed. I had, and still have, reservations about Monk. As I understand the Swansea way of working, a committee find & sign players, & require their manager to play in a certain way. If this is indeed true (& it's been widely reported), why does Monk become an expert in finding players all of a sudden? As for managing the team, he picked up a team that was doing well & after sufficient tinkering, managed to drive it downhill. That's just the impression I get & it may well be a load of cobblers. But it worries me.

BUT ... he's now our manager, & I will support him & hope to Gawd that he gets it right.

Finally, re. experience as a manager - over the years I've worked with a load of very experience guys, and many of them were absolutely clueless. I've also worked with graduates who came in & were absolutely astounding. (Also worked with duff graduates & great experienced guys too, btw!). What I'm saying is that experience, whilst useful, is not the be-all & end-all. Revie had ideas. Stein had ideas. Old red nose had ideas. The list is endless, but good plans, motivational skills, an understanding of what needs to be done, & an open mind to change etc. are far more important than experience for me. So I'm hopeful for Monk, but not yet convinced. Evans had convinced me.
