Personally, he would like to see Mike Phelan to be appointed manager - "He knows all of the players - all 13 of us" Victory over Leicester was inspired by being 'written off' by the media. He is surprised there have been no new signings but understands complexities. Says Harry Maguire could return to squad. We go to Swansea with the same the group looking to build on the Leicester result.” “My job is the same as last week, to take charge of the game and I think they players will perform as well as they can." “The players are ready. We’re prepared and ready for the challenge we will face.” Phelan confirms we've no injuries and Maguire is back in training - “This week might be a push but the week after he should be OK.”
Swansea team news... Swansea City manager Francesco Guidolin looks set to give Gylfi Sigurdsson his first start of the season as Leon Britton is currently suffering with illness and hasn't trained for the past two days. The Italian has said this week that he prefers to work with the players who have had a full pre-season training with the squad for now, but he may have to bring Sigurdsson back into the starting line-up on Saturday, as Britton could be unavailable and he lacks alternative midfield options with Ki lacking match fitness. As a result of Sigurdsson's lack of fitness last weekend at Burnley, Guidolin used a 4-3-3 formation, but he may revert back to 4-2-3-1 by bringing in Sigurdsson, and playing Leroy Fer and Jack Cork behind him. The latter would take over captain's duties. If he doesn't think that Sigurdsson is fit enough for a return this weekend, after his Euro 2016 campaign, Guidolin will have to look for a third central midfielder if he's to stick with the 4-3-3 formation. Ki Sung Yueng has also trained far less during the Summer after his compulsory military service during the Summer. Guidolin is unlikely to make changes elsewhere. He's also unfortunate to still be without new striker signing Borja Baston, who suffered an injury in training. He's likely to miss the next two games, at home against Hull City before a trip to Leicester City. He should be back fit after the first international break of the season. If Sigurdsson does start, that should free up a space on the bench for young striker Oliver McBurnie who was left out at Burnley last Saturday. http://www.swansea.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=457359#ixzz4HlY3Hm6g
I did put Swansea team news information in the match preview thread yesterday for anyone who's interested.
Hull caretaker boss Mike Phelan investigates how often Swansea players go to the toilet MIKE PHELAN hopes to send Swansea’s hopes down the pan after studying their toilet habits in a bid to flush out their flaws. City’s caretaker boss has left nothing to chance in his bid to help the Premier League relegation favourites beat the odds - and that includes compiling lengthy dossiers on all their opponents. Hull travel to South Wales looking to build on the morale-boosting opening day win over Leicester. David Meyler backed the 53-year-old’s claims to succeed Steve Bruce, and the Republic of Ireland midfielder revealed: “When you’re assistant to Sir Alex Ferguson for so long, I presume you go through everything, and he takes no shortcuts. “We’ve watched everything on Swansea and we can tell you everything about them - even how long they sleep and how many times they go to the toilet - everything. “That’s just the kind of person he is, he’s a winner and he’s trying to breed that into us.” Meyler claims the pressure is off after a nightmare pre-season saw Bruce quit, no summer signings, fan protests against the club’s owners and just 13 fit senior players for the stunning victory over the Foxes. The 27-year-old added: “We’ve got a free shot at the Premier League. “Regardless of what happens, our pre-season will be spoken about. If we stay up everyone will talk about how fantastic we’ve been, if not they will point to all the issues we’ve had.” http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/fo...an-Swansea-toilet-Premier-League-David-Meyler
