Thanks again for the highlights Durbar. From these we looked half asleep defensively both first and last goal, and in other situations. Hope JFH is directing his real anger and purpose on all at fault, not the Ref who did give us 2 penalties away, the 2nd one a 50/50 ball?
I was there last night as it's one of the closest games to my home. The defence went missing at the start of the game and, surprisingly after our second penalty. I know that Barnsley are big and tall but then we have a tall set of defenders, none of whom managed so much as a challenge for their first goal. The free kick was beautifully struck but from where we were sat it was the obvious place to put it. Have a look at Chery's in the first half. I may be wrong but I don't recall a gap as wide as the Dartford Tunnel. I assume the purpose of the gap is that the goalie wants a clear sight of the kick as it's taken. However if so he needs to be better positioned because the gap is an open invitation for the free kick taker to bend it through that gap. For the third. it was clear even across 150 yards that Hall had been pushed but in the wide open spaces where were the other defenders at the time? They seemed to have switched off and shut down for the evening already. The Barnsley lad just kept going whereas ours just seemed to watch what was going on. It's a pity because it undid all the hard work that had been put into turning a defeat into a well deserved victory. Barnsley's chances had dried up completely by the middle of the first half and in the second half both teams played at a much higher tempo. However on any view, we were on top and more threatening for the first 30 minutes of the second half. We do seem to lack a killer touch though and they will need to get that soon because we're not going to be given a penalty every time Polter goes down under a challenge in the box or YNB goes flying over an outstretched leg. Both were clear penalties. But in both cases, we would be aggrieved at the ease with which the player went down.
