The Oaks looks a case of pick your O'Brien filly, a game I'd rather not play. Was half interested in the Stoute filly for a semi upset until I read this: Mickey Stoute has only won 3 Group Ones in the UK in the last 3 seasons. **** me but that's shocking <doh>

Most obvious bet for me. Fair Eva, probably put too much on it but i worked out my previous winnings from the Frankel runners and thought why not. Also have gone for Queen Kindly each way

I like the look of DANIELSFLYER in the opener. I think they have held it back specifically for this.

Has been working well at home and stable are confident of a big run!!

The two big race favourites obliged on the first day, but York looks like slim pickings on Ladies’ Day for those that will not touch big fields there, especially in handicaps.

It is very hard to envisage a circumstance where Fair Eva will not win the Lowther Stakes as she holds all of her opponents on a couple of form lines, so the forecast looks the only viable option. Can Queen Kindly bring up a Frankel forecast? She could do on strict form lines with Kilmah, Nations Alexander, Magical Fire and Roly Poly, who even has the negative of a penalty.

I cannot think of any reason why I would be taking short odds about Found in the Yorkshire Oaks. Rain is unlikely to arrive in time to assist her and she seems to have a habit of finding one too good for her these days – well beaten twice in last three starts. If the three-year-olds had not fared so badly against their elders in the Juddmonte, there might be grounds for enthusiasm about Irish Oaks winner Seventh Heaven. Less of a case can be made for Even Song, beaten favourite at The Curragh or Turret Rocks, who ran fourth. I can see the bookies getting a result unless Endless Time continues her progressive path and steps up from her Lancashire Oaks win on quicker ground.

The Galtres Stakes has been a good race for the Classic generation in recent years and may well be again as the elders do not look very strong. The obvious pick appears to be Abingdon, beaten by Fireglow in a similar event last time with Tiptree just behind. It is hard to know what to make of Glamorous Approach as she ran in a two mile handicap last time! Just as hard to fathom is fibresand winner To Eternity, who I would not want to back to make all here given that no horse has led before the 3 furlong pole and won at York this year in a race longer than a mile.

May have to look at the Deauville card to find something worth betting on...

Liked the look of this off levels against this lot.

Doubled up with QUEEN KINDLY who Fahey and the owners seem to think the world of. The only problem is, she might be up against a machine in Fair Eva, although time will tell...

    Rain to assist FOUND?

I'd argue she wants fast top of the ground and that sometimes softer ground has blunted her. I can't be involved at 15/8 though!

Morning, morning. Some exceptional fillies on the old Knavesmire today but none more so in my humble opinion than FAIR EVA, what a lovely name for a filly by the way. She’s ‘the hope of the county’ and our sports next superstar in my opinion. She should make the next step up by going in at Group 2 level this afternoon (2.30). Potentially Fair Eva could be Outstanding with a huge, huge, huge capital ‘O’.

FOUND, another lovely name for a filly, is already a dual Group 1 winner, and I think she’ll add to that tally in the Yorkshire Oaks (3.40). The old girl does look some way above the rest of her opponents and this should be much easier for her than taking on the old boy colts. Finally ABINGDON, a less lovely name for a filly, has done little wrong this term and should take the Galtres (4.20). Already a winner at this grade again she also looks too classy for her opponents.

    Good luck all.

Away from York, I'm drawn to Tindaro in the 2.55 over at Stratford. Conditions to suit, likes it here etc.

Steering clear of those exotic multiple thingies and staying quiet until the races are finished.

Have to have a go at the 'Frankel' reverse forecast today. Won't pay much but assuming they finish in the expected order It'll be better value than backing Fair Eva to win and if they finish other way round then should be slightly more still

I'd argue she goes on any ground as long as it isn't one extreme or the other. Her 3 highest profile wins have all been with soft in the description, her defeat of Golden Horn in Keeneland was soft ground, her demolition of Answered and her defeat of Success Days also on yielding to soft ground.

She has won 5 races and the other 2 she won when she beat Together Forever on debut on good/good to firm and on her 3rd start when she beat Ervedya on good ground.

Bad Penny. 5.50 Killarney. Was making up ground hand over fist lto, and would have been a lot closer or even won if not stopped in her tracks about 1f out.
Have a look at the replay if you have the time! 9/1 looks a good e/w investment to me!

Artful Artist. 6.20. Killarney. On a decent mark and ran a cracker at Galway. Just hope Martin has his dough down! 6/1

Miss Marina Bay - 430 Chepstow - doubling up with fair Eva to make the 11/8 a little more enticing - double pays 9/4..

Don't want to curse this but I put these 3 in a treble a couple of hours ago down the local bookies. How was your stay in Devon?
