Good to score late goals rather than concede them, as per previous seasons. (Improved Fitness + High Press) = late goals = Points. Long may it continue!!
2 clean sheets, scoring goals, Caulker playing well..Someone Pinch me. I don't know what JFH is doing but early signs are V.good. As we all know confidence is an important part of football and building it nicely.
It's worth remembering that we got 10 points from 5 games last season before the first international break seemed to kill our momentum so I'm not getting carried away. There are fewer question marks over who is going and that can only help. I followed the game from the thrilling viewpoint of the FotMob app and it was great to see a turnaround in possession and pass accuracy stats in the second half. It feels like it's going too well so I'm expecting some unknown rule violation to crawl out of nowhere.
Fair point and cautions is usually wise. However, I don't think we accrued 10 points in quite the manner we have this season. Five scored, none conceded and a confident team who look up for it and a manager who seems to know what he is doing! Happy days.
PS. I see that Barnsley are 9/5 for the win on Wednesday, as are we. The last time we were getting odd like that for away games was Sir Neil's team that got promoted. I know it is far too early etc but I'm happy just to enjoy this high moment however long it lasts.
I have always thought that the table really means nothing until the end of September, as a win (or a loss) can move you a dozen places. I'm trying to keep that view, but when you see the first two results and how well we've played in those games, it's not so easy to keep the perspective. Let's face it - before the season started, we looked at Leeds and Cardiff as teams that would be tough to break down. There were going to be easier games on paper, and getting two wins, two clean sheets, and five goals - plus a cup win in between - makes it tough to stay calm...
Great start from the boys, credit where it's due. 2 clean sheets is also a great bonus. The real test in this league is always how you react to your defeats, and we'll see how we fare when that time comes. With all the garbage we've put up with in recent years, it's nice to see a team who are committed and seem to be playing with a bit of confidence as well. Keep up the great work JFH
Not sure who put the highlights here but the reason I put it on its own was because not all look at this thread a day or two later and dont realize the highlights are here!!!
I got blocked from posting my thanks for posting this Durbar, probably because it was already moved. Great header from Caulker.
Update! So I work in a metal workshop, my boss is Chelsea and we have two Royals and wait for it.. a Canary! The banter is very good so I couldn't resist dishing out a large portion I kept breaking out singing, well if you could pass it as that. Anyway one was Hey didily Dee, the R's are top of the league, also the happy days theme song, these are R's happy days Not had such an enjoyable Monday for a while
He has indeed. He got in at least 4 decent attempts on goal yesterday, scored the 1, all in the minute long highlights. And we have 2 clean sheets. Not bad for a CB! Only hope Hall can take over the attacking parts for the rest of the month, otherwise a PL Club in a decent location will take him.
The cynic in me is saying that Caulker is playing well, hoping to attract a premier league club to come in for him.Hopefully I'm wrong, and if a move doesn't materialise he will continue to play well and give his all. I guess only time will tell !
That's quite a realistic view. My gut feeling is he won't be with us in three weeks, especially looking at some of the Premier League defending.
Not sure that view is correct. He played for two PL clubs last season and failed which he wouldn't have done if he wanted to stay. I just think his attitude has changed and he will be back in the PL next season, with us.
