After 8 yrs of no trophies and top 3 and 4 finishes followed by being FA cup winners 2 yrs running and being league runners up is relative success.
We're not **** at all In fact we have a very good squad it's just a lack drive and ambition from both the club and manager that really frustrates. Things are soo incredibly predictable at Arsenal these days. I personally just feel tired with it all. The Boss isn't willing to push the boat out gamble on perhaps two top signings and really make a run at the league and Europe. Year upon year we go into the new Season with extensive injuries and obvious holes in the squad.
You guys were a bit unlucky, deserved to be ahead first half as we were ****, but it's almost like you got complacent and I think us scoring right on HT gave us a bit f momentum to go into 2nd half with. First 20 mins if 2nd half we were unplayable I thought and clinical in front of goal as well. Scored 2 brilliant goals and another well worked which thought Cech should have done much better for (Lallana's goal). After taking advantage of Moreno in the first half, you almost gave up attacking him in the 2nd which was probably your downfall!
i take exception to that comment the correct statement is has looked positionally suspect all career and if in position he will make a dreadfully rash challenge hoped that helped, PS why didn't Ox start considering his form in pre season ?
Cheers lads Glad we battered you today but good luck for rest of season. You're the only London club in top flight with any class
AW: "It is an impossible situation to get players back from the Euros and prepare." Would the man just please QUIT. Utterly clueless.
not wumming but why are you the only club who thinks players who were in the euros shouldn't be available today
ohi don't know there is a few of them I do get the point that it has almost become boring ie get in top 4 to get CL then lose by the QF at latest . You could argue in domestic terms you are on the rise with a couple of FA cups and higher league positions
Granit was hardly a big name, more an up and comer like Batshuayi. And those first three all came to us an unwanted players at their own clubs too. We didn't fight to get them in a bidding war because Wenger is too much of a fanny to do that. But anyway in spite of that of course we can attract players. Big teams all can. Non-CL teams can. It's just that Wenger is utterly incompetent at recruiting the players in the positions we need strengthening.
It's another tired excuse. Spurs had their Belgians play yesterday and they got further in the Euros than Xhaka's Switzerland. Sagna and Martial played for their respective clubs and they were in the final. Southampton are the only team I can think of who rested players but that's only coz they got to the final!
I agree with all of that but have highlighted one part, that is because I believe they could have gone to many other clubs had they really wanted but chose to come to you. The fact that there was no public bidding war means little, other clubs will definitely have been interested.
We got them at the right time which kept the interest and value of the players down. I don't recall any occasion when Arsenal outbid a top team that was going for the same player. This is the way our management does business. Higuain and Suarez were two transfers where we were simply not willing to pay the fee because the management tried to get a bargain. What they don't understand is getting either player would have guaranteed more goals and a higher level of success, bringing in more revenue through competitions and shirt sales. Our business model is too restrictive and risk averse.
Why are you limiting it to the last 3 years? Look at the last 12 years. What have we done? We won a couple of FA Cups. Great. And we've regularly finished in the top 4. So what? Which of the clubs that we were competing for 4th with should have actually been finishing above us? Finishing in the top 4 & qualifying for the CL doesn't actually mean anything because we never take advantage of being in the competition. Wenger said we needed CL football for improved financial strength in order to attract players. Yet we've not properly spent the piles of cash we have whilst we've been rejected by the likes of Jamie facking Vardy (and no I didn't want him at Arsenal, but it's still humiliating to be rejected by a player like him who has done nothing of note in his career up until last season). When I say 'being **** for several seasons', you need to look at it relatively to other clubs. If all clubs were on equal footing and we were getting top 4 finishes, you'd have to say fair enough, we've been doing well. But we have got an excessive wage bill, we're in the top 10 richest football clubs in the world, massive cash reserves & increased revenue year upon year. So we've not reaped the benefits of the stadium move and these regular top 4 finishes because we've not had any meaningful success. Even in 2016, when we'll get even more money from the new TV deals, we still witness this arbitrary frugality by the club when we are in dire need of strengthening. And don't get me started on squad depth, injuries and tactical proficiency (or lack of) because we'll be here for hours. I just want to see us try and compete with the big teams even if we're not successful. But not attempting to at all and merely saying 'meh, 4th will do' is a toxic mentality to have and fans get angry because the people who determine the future of this club are showing a lack of ambition.
