I thought his interview with burnsy was good, he came across as very positive and wanted the players to express themselves which resulted in a positive style of play

I would prefer that we get someone else but if the players want to play for him and the new owners trust him then thats fine with me.

The problem with transfers could easily be Ehab as much as anything else. The quicker he goes the more we can bring in.

I suspect you'd have felt differently if he had done and we'd conceded.

To be fair Leicester were pretty ****. No doubt though we made them look ****. Tactics spot on from Phelan.

He'll win the next 4 and then get sacked by silly bastard.

    Replaced by Steve Evans.

    Remember where you heard it.

Not that I give a toss about Lester. They were ****e..Too many players who think they are world beaters and should be on £125k a week. Vardy brought his England form to the table.....Waste of $ucking space...... It can go one of two ways for them...A decent season or a struggle. Today we didn't let them do much in the final third and bossed them in the middle of the park...

At least three things he got right today that Bruce may not have done.
    1. Made Curtis captain. And what an excellent one.
    2. Played Clucas just in front of back four - great game he had.
    3. Played Diomande out wide on the left and got the best out of him.

Don't think we'd have won that under Bruce.

Comparisons are too hard at any time, unless you can go directly to the alternate time line whereSB was manager for this game.
    I won't slate SB & I won't praise MP too hard!
Phelan has a hard enough task without expert help from this board!

Not slating Bruce- our most successful manager ever and one I admire. Not advising Phelan either; I hope he doesn't look here for advice! Just an observation, worth nowt more, like most of the stuff on here.

Diomande looked like he had a Bruce sized weight lifted off his shoulders that's for sure, Clucases one touch passing was highlighted on MOTD, one game in and we are seeing things that Bruce never achieved with these players

I agree to an extent. We did look a lot more willing to get forward but I would urge a little caution with regards to Phelen. Was today's performance down to him or was it down to our players been backed into a corner and coming out fighting as a unit? I wouldn't be against him been appointed but if there was a more experienced option id still take it.

I liked that we didn't go 7-3-0 at the end and try to throw it away. Huddlestone pressing them back in the final minutes was awesome. Hernandez winning a corner at the end too. We were on the front foot. I loved that.

Phelan is a players man, he was a great link/buffer between Fergie and the team when he was with us. He is also a very good coach (manager is different so remains to be seen).
I may have mentioned he is very good at interviews :emoticon-0100-smile

question should be , Can you attract players ? <whistle>

but, tbh - Phelan seems decent. Remember him saying that he used to do all team preparation under Alex in Manu in the last few years.
That looks true and will be true - if he can sustain today's performance.

Bringing in anyone, however big their name or reputation, is always a gamble.

Enough of one to make me think giving someone a go who already has a good working relationship with the players could be the sensible bet.

If we make the wrong choice with someone new now, we would be likely to be half way through the season in deep **** and shackled with a massive contract before we got rid.

Must make sense to give Phelan a couple of months to have a go?

You could even make a case for offering him a month to month contract since you are allegedly in the process of selling up, that way there would be no big pay out if it all goes wrong.
