I know we're all in cloud cuckoo land at present but yes give the bloke a chance. He's prepared a team with little resource to pick from. He's instilled a belief in the lads, they've listened and taken it on board and we've just beaten the Premier League Champions. Why would you not let him have a go?

Definitely keep him, so much less negativity on the pitch today and players expressing themselves, great to see

Im sorry but there's no place for sentiment in football... Id love to see Phelan stay at the club as a no.2 or a coach but I want a new manager in with the new owners. There's some quality managers out there, proven managers. Aim high and get the best man for the job.

As great as today's result was, I dont think Phelan will be able to attract the kind of players needed.

I dont recall everyone calling for Phelan to take over when Bruce left, most were happy to end up with Phelan but hoped we'd get someone better... Why does 1 win change that?

Everyone starts somewhere, we're never going to attract the world class players that a world class manager required! For our level he's a better step up to Brownie!

Players like him, has experience of the top level working with Sir Alex, plays fantastic football and speaks well to media.

    Phelan in!

As Leicester showed last season, spirit and togetherness can get you a very long way, even with reasonably average PL players. Phelan has clearly engendered spirit and togetherness - whatever the new owners do now, that spirit must be kept and nurtured.

I agree. First came to my attention at Wembley when he was running up and down the line really encouraging the players. Everyone starts somewhere and who knows what went on behind the scenes when Bruce was here, maybe Phelan played a big role then as well.

    How's Gary Monk getting on?
I know several of our armchair managers were screeching for him to come in.
He dresses well, looks healthy etc

One of Fergie's favourite tricks was fostering an "us vs the rest of the world" mentality wasn't it - if Phelan brought a bit of that to the team during pre-season then it was exactly what was needed and well done.

I wanted him to make some changes even at 91-95 mins. Would have done wonders to give these kids some game time even just to run around.

I don't think anyone is under any illusion that next Saturday is a brand new day. But, among all the **** that we have seen going on lets just be smug for today at least. Next week might be just as exciting for different reasons.

I think most understand that this is still likely to be a difficult season. But if we have more fight we have more chance of keeping up than last time. Obviously Phelan can still prove more, but his tactics today and handling of players was a good start. I'm not sure how many managers we can get who would really bring in bigger players, we likely have to just use what we have and can get to the best of their ability. And I don't think we've done that in the past.

That's not going to happen, he left Norwich when he was overlooked for the manager's job and I think he'd do the same here. It's been reported that him and Bruce were not the best of friends, maybe that's because their footballing ideologies differed, based on today's performance I have to say that I much prefer Phelan's.

Give him a go, especially as that ****er Warnock's sniffing around!

What could also happen with AN Other manager coming in is the unity we saw today being fractured. He might not fancy what we have here and ask to make wholesale changes.. anyway, its all in the future.
