I only started going to watch City after the move to the KC but it feels odd today to wake up for the first time in 13 years and not be heading to the KC for the first home game of the season. Instead I'm trying to muster the enthusiasm to watch the match on tv. Thank you Allams!
It should be a great day for all of us but sadly is very different. I think back to the excitement and enjoyment of our opening game against Fulham in 2008 and to see us where we are at now is truly depressing.
I am glad I am at home in Leicester. They are not getting another penny of mine. I thought I might try to do some away matches but that would mean contacting the club and I can't see me doing that now. Just seen a shot of grounds man on sky cutting the pitch and I'm sure I caught a glimpse of something Hull Tigers at the side of the pitch. Not sure if it didn't look oriental. The sole aim is to piss us off. Cannot understand anyone giving them money now. Worst thing that happened was getting promoted as a lot of us predicted. ****ERS.
I live very close to our stadium so it's going to seem very strange seeing city fans walking to the game and I won't be walking with them. Would like to think the Allams will be gone soon, and Ican enjoy first day of the season like I and many others used to do.
To all those that went and made great noise... well done for getting behind the team... for all those that didn't - myself included the victory is still as sweet as... I don't know what people thought walking past my house !!!... I kicked every ball the last 15 minutes..
If you do not go because you can't afford it then fair enough but if it is because of the Allams then I just don't understand it. Why let him spoil your Saturday. I love going to games, okay not so nice when we are getting stuffed but it is part of my life and I would certainly not let Allam take that away from me.
People have to make their own choice jules We went today and had a great time but I understand people who won't go until we have new owners
It's not just about new owners is it NT? It's about restoring the club name, it's about protecting the future by restoring concessions to kids, it's giving long term supporters something back for their years of support; for me personally, the Allams leaving is only a small part of it.
They can stop the Hull Tigers/Hull City Tigers the minute they walk through the door - marketing us as Hull City can be done with a few clicks of a mouse. Personally, I'm hoping the new owners are going to begin their tenure with a statement of intent, giving us their vision for the future - a future which will hopefully include concessions for kids and OAP's.
All that and the fact they took my long term seat from me and then left it empty. By not going I'm probably hurting no one but me but I feel its a stance, albeit a weak one.
You've made a considered choice and decided not to go, no-one (apart from one or two pathetic individuals) will knock you for it. It's not weak.
For me the decision not to go was not just one thing. moving fans, the badge, the attitude to fans - all these I could put up with; I could put up with the name change bollocks (as long as it didn't actually change); but charging my kids the same as an adult was the straw that broke the camels back. Did i miss going - yes, but what was the most disappointing thing was that my son gave up watching the match at half time to go play with his mates.
I don't expect any changes to the membership scheme until next season, it would be a nightmare changing it mid season, but there's no reason why the West Upper and the use of the name can't be amended immediately.
They could quite easily reintroduce concessions the minute they walk through the door. Any lapsed concessions they try and get to rejoin at revised rate. Any that have paid instalments they refund the difference - piece of piss.
At the moment, we overcharging kids/seniors, funding cheap adult tickets. Reducing prices for kids/seniors is easy, but increasing the adult prices is far more problematic.
