In 1841 Thomas Cook organised the world’s first package tour all the way from Leicester to Loughborough for a temperance meeting. Passengers paid one shilling each for rail travel and food.

BBC Radio Leicester was Britain’s first mainland local radio station when it began to broadcast in November 1967.

Famous people from Leicester include Gok Wan and David Icke,

As well as having the most traffic lights, Leicester was also the first city to have both traffic lights and traffic wardens.

In 1961, Leicester was in the Guinness book of records for having the largest Tesco in Europe.

Leicester is the birthplace of modern standard English.

Leicester City holds the joint record for the most second-tier title triumphs, having won the First Division six times

Leicester is the home of the ‘chisit’ – a nickname given to the people of Leicester, because of the phrase “How much is it?” – which in the Leicester accent sounds like “I’m a chisit!”

Leicester named the Foxes as it was the first place that brought us fox hunting. That's according to a Leicester fan.

    Poor show Chazz
Dutch and Quill have stepped up and done their bit, but this...? :emoticon-0114-dull:

I expected at least the naming of a not606 team. Mainly in case we had any last minute injuries so it gave Phelan somewhere to come for replacements!

Big game tomorrow for lots of reasons. None of them to do with playing the reigning champions

    Predictions
    0-2.
Rumours right up to kick off that we've been sold
No official announcement though so no one in their right mind believes the rumours

Might as well have Rodin in goal, 'cos we are about to go through the Gates of Hell.

The good Burghers that we will field tomorrow are voluntarily offering to sacrifice themselves for the greater good.

Phelen is a Thinker who can plot a miracle tomorrow.

We may yet come out of this with the soft, sensual taste of the Kiss on our metaphorical lips.

Don't worry about the ****e MDT Chazz. I'll save it with some cultured art history 'an that. Next week just say that your IPad autocorrects Meyler to Mahler. I can spout ****e on music too.

1-1 if we're lucky, but I'm not hopeful.

The Premier League Champions have never lost the opening game of the following season. Would be great to re-write the record books.

For the first and only time in these shambolic threads we endure that are thrown together like, erm, a thing that's thrown together badly...I'm going to go off piste.

    3-1 to us.

Still 4 goals, but we have 11 fit first teamers ffs, and they're champions.

The Jak will be in Gandalf mode, but Vardy will get a cheeky freekick thanks to Livermore twatting him.

    Gerrintothem you Ull.

First day of the season, anything can happen. Leicester might think they are in for an easy match but we still have a lot of quality in the squad and 7/2 are decent odds for me to back us. We beat them last season in the Cup and Vardy didn't really get the better of big Harry after getting a long stint at the end of the match thanks to extra time so hope for Jake and Davies. Leicester are vulnerable at the back for me against a quick striker like Hernandez if Hudds can get him in on goal and I could see Clucas wanting to do well against at team that let him go.

Sorry but can't see beyond a comfortable Leicester win
Jake at CB? Guy's a warrier but that's seriously out of position at this level
    The subs will be kids
Josh Tynan should get a game
