Same in the music industry, there are only a couple of decent agents 99% of them are ****s. Football must be even worse.
He is on more in a week than most of us earn in a year and he signed up for a four year contract on that deal. Why should players be able to hold clubs to ransom and demand to double an already massive salary just because another club comes sniffing..These contracts are not worth the paper they are written on..
If the club give in what message does it send to the rest of the team, sad but it seems he has to go, to the highest bidder
The bosman rule has ****ed it up. If the situation was that if a player ran their contract to the end then the club got a fee for selling the player on or fair compensation the power would be back with the clubs. Under the current rules the club could say "you are not leaving" the player could sulk in the reserves for years and the clubs asset is effectively worth nothing. WBA did it successfully with Berihino but now might not get much for him. For us it's wise to sell Kone, he is a good player but Wickham had a great 6 month and has been hot and cold since. Same might happen with Kone. Was Henderson actually worth 24m when we sold him? Or Bent when we sold him? In hignsight we probably got maximum value from those players. This is probably the maximum value we will ever get from Kone.
We have to sell now, get as much for him as we can. Really gutted about this but a player like him could cause problems with the other players. As already said, no player is bigger than the club
In the music industry do the record companies pay the agents fees that the musicians hire in the same way that the clubs pay the fees of the players agents?
This ^ Even though it's potentially my club on the other end of this one, I agree 100%. Lescott did exactly the same thing to us years back, and Moyes made the mistake of picking him for the opening game. He absolutely stank the place out, and the entire team was affected - we lost 1-6 at home to Arsenal. These footballers are happy to sign long term contracts, but then their stock rises and they think they're automatically entitled to a huge pay increase or a move to somewhere they can attain their 'worth'. There's very little loyalty in the game anymore, players don't really give a **** about the shirt they wear, as they have no emotional attachment to the club they represent. It's no wonder the working man is increasingly turning away from the PL.
No its a bit different now. It's all about live music. So agents tout acts round to promoters. Some acts are signed to a promotions company. The agents are always trying to get a better deal for their act. There are big promoters like the big 4/5 clubs and the agents regularly shaft the smaller promoters in order to get their act on with one of the big boys. They are money grabbing parasites just like the football agents. I will give you an example: Ed ######, he was broken by a medium size promoter based in Bristol. Said he would always use them even if he got big (which he has) agent came along and made sure the smaller promoter could not do the deal so Ed went with one of the big ones. Agent cashed in a nice big % on that.
He says that he wants to leave because he has not been offered a contract he was promised at the end of last season so he thinks he musnt be in Moyes' plans. Moyes has only been manager for how long? 2-3 weeks? He hasnt been manager long enough to fully establish who is gonna be in his plans. Surely he must realise that as a result of the upheaval that Allardyces departure has caused then any contract talks would have been put on the backburner for at least a month or two. A genuine bloke would then just keep his head down, let the season start and take it from there. If further down the line and he keeps performing but nothings changed then fair enough. I think Kone has had his head turned, made a mountain out of a molehill, and used the situation to engineer a move away (Plan A) or hold the club to ransom (Plan B). Obviously we dont want him to leave and no bid has been accepted yet, otherwise he wouldnt have handed in a transfer request. He's playing the victim? Bollocks! He doesnt give a **** about the club and has dropped us right in the clarts at the worst possible time. Whole thing stinks to me. Get rid. £25-30 million.
I am just sitting waiting for something to be confirmed one way or another, trying not to get worked up over something we cant do anything about. frustrating as hell for the fans but we just have to live with it, after all it wouldn't be Sunderland would it if things ran smoothly.
I lay this solely and squarely at Kone's agents door. He may be doing his job as he sees it but any club that thinks about buying Kone will have the worry that he will do the same to them. Clubs just do not standa chance in these circumstances. If Rooney can do it to ManU what chance do the rest of us stand. Football has gone to the clavering money hunmgry agents, but having said that Kone could tell the agent to stop then and there. His heart is not with us so he has lost me.
Says a lot about the bloke that he released that statement publicly just before the start of the season, it's an absolute ****'s trick, he seems entirely motivated by a few extra quid he clearly doesn't care where he's playing his football as long as that club will give him more money. The club don't have to sell him but I'd rather that they did now to be honest, the question is do we get it done with quick and take the offer that was reported from Everton or do we play hardball and demand x amount and accept that him and his agent are going to sulk in the media until he gets his move. I just hope it's resolved quickly so we have time to get another centre half in.
It stinks, and like ha been said the timing, the wording, the effect on the club is all lifting. Half the love for Kone was because of his perceived love for the club, but as we can all see that was absolute bullshit I'd be saying to Everton £20million and you can have the ****. Nobody can ever be bigger than their club, whilst I do believe the club ****ed up, the way he's handled it and most specifically the timing is pure scummy as ****.
Our clubs **** end of story can't sign players can't keep players let players go on the cheap I'm ready for giving it all up why should I/us as fans give our hard earned cash to a club that seemingly doesn't give a **** about us. Massive crowds at home amazing away support and for what so that Yankee twat can rake it in whilst laughing at us. Sorry for the rant I'm so ****ed off at the minute with the club as a whole
Agree with all that, but if we sell we need to reinvest the money in quality. This morning I read we are looking at some lad from Blackburn and he's never played outside of the Championship FFS, i'm so disillusioned with the club right now. The lack of ambition is ****ing ****e.
What pisses me off the most is the fact these players sign contracts worth 10's of thousands of pounds a week and are happy to do so, however, the moment they string a number of decent games together (Kone/Wickham) they automatically think they deserve more money to reflect these performances (forgetting it's their ****in job!!). The same players aren't knocking on the CEO/Managers door to ask for a reduction in wages when they have a stinker of a game.... Funny old thing !!!
Good question mate. I find this kind of behaviour unsavoury, but the lad appears to be exactly what we need from a football perspective. There's the hypocrisy of football fans I suppose
