This is our virtual opportunity to be JFH and to pick the team for Sunday's away match to Cardiff. I personally am not expecting changes to the winning team from the Leeds match, with the exception that I would replace Gladwin with Ngabakoto, although I am not sure of his match fitness. Thus, my team would be: ----------------------- Smithies-------------------- --Onuoha -----Caulker----Hall-----Bidwell--- ------------------Henry -----Luongo---------- --Ngabakoko-------Chery-------Shopido---- ------------------------Polter-------------------- I would very much like to play Cousins, but that would mean replacing Luongo which is undeserved. I also doubt that for an away match we will see a Luongo-Cousins midfield partnership. I expect that the substitutes that are envisaged to be used, baring any injuries, are Cousins, El Khayati and Washington. It will be very interesting to see how we perform in this first away match of the season. I think that we should be well suited to away matches this season as we have a tight defence, well organised team, high pressing approach and an ability to make a fast counter attack. We should be well suited for a draw with hopefully an opportunity to nick an away win. I look forward to reading your thoughts.
I'd bring Cousins on later in the game for Shopido but he did well last time out. I think the kid earnt a starting place this week. Solid looking line up though. Let's hope we continue where we left off last time out.
MUCH THE SAME BUT I WOULD PLAY THE BACK FOUR AND THE GOALKEEPER FOLLOWED BY MIDFIELD .................................DARNELL FURLONG LUONGO HENRY COUSINS CHERY ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,SEBASTIAN POULTER
Cousins and Henry both played the full 120 on Wednesday. Can't really see Henry being up to another start so I'd go with Cousins. Cardiff could be leggy with only a couple of days rest from their own extra time on Thursday so youth and energy are especially key. Gladwin will play I think after not playing midweek, cue meltdown on here.
Apart from possibly Yeni for Gladwin I would be surprised if there are any changes from the starting 11 against Leeds........
Watford - you may be correct and I would like to see that combination of Luongo & Cousins. I just feel that JFH is defensively minded and that we will initially see a more defensive starting line up. Hence, I will not be surprised to see Henry and even Gladwin at the start up, with the plan to replace them with fresh legs of Cousins, and Ngabakoko / El Khayati in the 2nd half.
Oslo - an interesting option, but I don't know enough about Cousins to know if he can play this position efficiently and effectively. I see him more in a central role of a 4 man midfield (box to box) or in the two man holding midfield role. It will be interesting to see what JFH has up his sleeve.
Excellent. So it may be a realistic option. However, our choice of right backs is decreasing as we won't be seeing Furlong this season. So we probably have a new right back lined up. http://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/swindon-sign-furlong-qpr-season-long-loan
JFH may think that Perch and Onuoha will do for right back, though it looks a weakness to me. Henry can also cover there. Bidwell and Robinson, possibly Cole if not loaned LB, Hall, Caulker, Lynch, Onuoha when needed at CB. Is Kakay a CB? Doubtless he will be loaned out too. I think we have at least two players for every position, though we need another striker who can play alone up front, because Washington can't.
I don't think he is defensive but plays to the team's strength. I get the argument for playing Henry especially after a solid performance last week but not after playing the whole game and ET on Wednesday at 33 or whatever he is now.
I think we should keep the same line up, Ngbakoko would be a good impact sub, although clearly he is going to be first choice before long. It would Be a good confidence boost for Gladwin to keep his place.
