I like the idea of a pair of them, because it'll help them settle (they're still still very young) and they are no doubt familiar with each other's style, coming from the same club. Moyes obviously rates them and £5.5m is bugger all if someone's prepared to pay nearly £50m for Stones!
I don't think Brown or O'Shea were good signings to be honest. Big wages for not enough back Brown's injuries and O'Shea's general dodgyness at the back. We'd have been better off not bothering and looking elsewhere. That said... I take your point. I was underwhelmed when we signed Rose on loan or PVA. I'm hoping thee lads prove to be in that bracket.
Moyes has a very good reputation for a bargain and this might, just might, be a real coup for the club. And in this particular case, he's not relying on scouts or other second hand knowledge, so to that extent, any risk is minimised. Buying some kids in cheap, selling them on for a big profit in a few years. Won't that make a pleasant change for once? Still waiting for that one big signing that'll take the roof off though.
Ive been doing abit of research on the Man Utd forums and quite a few wanted to keep McNair and rate him highly. A few even said he has the potential to be a 20m pound player in about 18months time. Not much was said about Love, just that he's also got potential to be a good player aswell.
When you put it like that it makes it even worse in my eyes, honestly. 3 years ago: "Bardo and JOS aren't good enough, we need to get rid if we want to progress." Now: "Maybe, in time, our new signings can be as good as Bardo and JOS!" Going backwards.
Right Back To Square One Preston have confirmed that they made a bid for Man Utd full back Donald Love but the player opted to move to Sunderland. It is no secret that Preston are searching for a right back. Grayson admitted that a bid had been made but the full back decided to move to Sunderland for a fee in the region of £1 million. It is unlikely that Preston matched Sunderland's bid and I suspect the full back preferred the chance of Premier League football. Preston's search for a full back continues with the transfer deadline approaching.
Love gave up a chance to be a first choice RB. Maybe indications were made that he had an opportunity to be the same at SAFC.
I don't agree mate, Bardo and Jos were first team regulars with no back up. These are both back up until they prove their first team spot. Swop Jones for a better RB and it's the best defence with cover we have ever had.
Well looks like we could be loosing Kone and we have replaced him with McLovin. I will give McNair and Love a chance before I judge them. I just hope we have more coming in. We still need RB = Yedlin (loan again) CM M'Vila (this BS has gone on to long now) Januzaj loan CF Ings or even crouch for one season I know he is gettIng on a bit but he can still do a job for us holding the ball up and winning headers. If Kone does leave we Deffo need another CB And please FFS give Kirchoff a new contract
Mcnair to have a midfield role ? http://www.squawka.com/news/david-m...ew-signing-paddy-mcnair-at-sunderland/744948? Moyes has indicated that despite McNair’s experience in the back-line he will mainly be deploying the new signing in the midfield area, although he is not adversed to playing him further back if needed. Speaking to the Sunderland official website the Scottish coach said on McNair: “I see Paddy as more of a midfield player at the moment – he played with Northern Ireland as a midfield player – and he can also do two or three jobs. “We may need to use him in some other positions at the moment while we are aiming to add to our squad, but we want to give him a bit of time to settle in.” Read more at http://www.squawka.com/news/david-m...nair-at-sunderland/744948#BYOw5G3iVOYqoPxW.99
I was thinking Mcnair is more backup to Kirchoff and Catts than M'Villa, as he is a DM. If we do get M'villa in, I could see Catts going in January if this Mcnair is any good as a DM
He may not be perfect. But **** me he is loyal, Catts is probably one of the last players id like to see leave now. Never bad mouths the club. Doesnt bleat about his contract. Gets dropped doesnt moan, just digs in to regain his place. Vital at times. A leader on the pitch. Not the best player, but so ****, he is reliable.
Dying breed Catts. Be he could have went back to Boro for an easy life and more money. I do feel Catts loves that we as fans appreciate him like, not every club would.
