And Martinez wanted to get us to the premier league, Allen said he wasn't going to leave, Scotland went to Wigan, trundle went to Bristol City. Players and managers come and go, being bitter about it is not really constructive. The point is the club continues afterwards
I've been happy to watch Ash for the past few years and his time with us was coming to an end anyway so i wish him all the best. I actually feel sorry for those who are bitter and have such a narrow view of life.
Great player for us. Gutted he's gone - but we've all been saying for a couple of years that Ash was prime for replacement any time soon. Amat has been steadily getting more experience and game time season upon season and he's ready to fill the void I reckon. But I do think we need to bring in one more CB given that Bartley left too. As Curt said, he's one of, if not the best, centre half Swansea have ever had. Not solely for his ability because, as a player, I've always felt he had things to improve on. But as a leader, he's certainly one in a million. He's led us through our best years and, as has been mentioned, he's given us his best years of service. His career will slowly decline from here, but it's true that he probably has more chance of picking up a cup medal at Everton - especially with Koeman at the helm. I'll certainly miss those raking cross field balls straight onto our wingers' feet. I'll miss those last ditch, throw absolutely everything at it, blocks - even if he had a tendency to keep those arms up. And I'll miss his no-nonsense approach to a physical battle with any and every striker in the divisions and cups we've played in. He consistently earned the respect of his rivals and teammates, but we must now move on and find the next 24 year old "Ashley Williams" out there to sit on the throne for the next 8 years - will it be Jordi Amat?
Williams could have landed anywhere but he landed with us . If he wasn't playing for us , he would be playing somewhere else . We went after him , not him after us . What Williams did for us these past 8 seasons engulfs anything in perticular the club did for him . He would have earned it elsewhere . Williams played his arse off at Swansea , hardly missing a game and playing a big part of almost every game . You can't buy that dedication , it just shows up in players here and there at times .
Well it could be Amat, he could give faithful service like Rangel has for years, I like the Spanish connection and that could bring even more players. The French experiment has been disappointing I think. We move on as a club, I'm looking forward to the season beginning and getting games under way so we can see what we have bought, and how we perform
Ashley Williams was shaped and molded at Swansea, a product of our football principles, let's hope that Amat follows in his footsteps......
Great player, great captain and a club legend to majority of us fans. Good luck and thanks for putting it all on the line every game.

That's funny, do you remember a couple of years ago an Ashley Williams was getting abuse from I think Man Utd fans on twitter , the problem was it was a girl from the US, I think Ash even tweeted her an apology There you go linky http://www.101greatgoals.com/blog/d...ans-tweet-abuse-at-the-wrong-ashley-williams/
Complete crap Dai, you call Trundle a legend, he was with us for half that time and left for the money at Bristol City. Ash had earned his place as one of the best players we've had at the club, he deserves the accolades by most reasoned fans here.
Whatever reactions you're reading, they are just that...reactions. When the dust settles, he will always be remembered as a Swansea legend. For the games he's played in, for the captaincy he made his own, for lifting the trophy at our only ever major cup win. He's pencilled himself into the very fabric of the club by staying with us for the best part of a decade and for the success we've had with him at the forefront of our play. People get angry when they don't get their way (for Ash to stay), that's human nature. But in 6 months time, a years time, in two years, or even in ten years, people will look back and remember Ash as the Swans legend that he was. When I think about it, I'm glad that he's left while he's still just about at the top of his game. He will slowly decline from here, and it would have been sad to see Ash slowly deteriorate as a player while still playing for the Swans. The fans would've slowly turned on him and he'd have been remembered as a struggling old player - kind of like what's happened to Dyer, although it's happened to him much sooner. That would have been a shame for Ash.
Maybe for you pal. For the majority of us including those inside the club a la Curtis he is, and to be fair his judgement on Ash I hold in a higher regard than yours. You do sometimes sound like an ex girlfriend though. When there with you its all "you are awesome, best shag, best looking, fantastic boyfriend" and as soon as you split up its all "**** shag small cock never really treated me right".
Not quite sure what reactions you have been reading but over 740 fans that have commented on Ash leaving on his FB page seem to disagree with you Dai.
