I'm with Smithy on this one. Why is nobody questioning Kone's actions at pushing for a new contract just as the season is starting. He can shove his ****ing #teamkone right up his ring piece.
Maybe its a ploy! Maybe everyone is in on it! Maybe he is eventually gonna sign a new contract with us and in doing so will lull us all into thinking that it would be like having a new signing and blinding us from the fact the we have not getting M'Vila and the rest of our transfer dealings have been utter pish.
If that's the game then it's a weird way of trying to achieve it, mugging off your CEO isn't likely to go down well. I don't get why he was allowed to speak to us yesterday either? A strange one all round fella.
Why did Sam promise him a new contract without speaking to Short about it first or if he did speak to Short about it why has he not been given it yet ??? Its all abit too confusing. It certainly does look like Kones trying to pressure the club to fulfill Sam or Shorts promise.
Don't forge this was an on off deal in January so wonder how deal was resurrected and what was potentially promised?
He said he was promised a new contract. If that is true it's the clubs fault. If not true it's Kone and his agents fault. Sad thing is we will never know the truth
If i was offered a pay rise at work and didnt get it id be asking questions aswell. Like you say well never know the truth. Our club does a very good job in staying quiet and keeping us all guessing.
It's common when an overseas signing exceeds expectation that he gets a pay rise. When he came nobody including himself would have known how well he'd cope or even if he'd hold down a place in the side, Kone include. His contract will have reflected this. Now he's shown not only that he can cope but that he's very comfortable with the football here is it really any wonder he wants a payrise? He'll have an agent telling him there's worse defenders earning more than him, which is probably true. He'll get his payrise, up to us to make sure he gets it with us. But if we're not going to reward overseas players who settle quickly and excel, word will travel fast among agents and it will make transfer windows even more difficult imo.
I think everyone knows where I stand with Ellis Short, I have said it on here for a good while and I have said it to the lads in the Paradise club.. I actually think this is a Moyes decision as he wants to bring players in he feels comfortable with and the reason Everton, gives him the Jagielka option, a player he loves. IIRC he went for Baines when he went to Man U and maybe even Jagielka but I might have got one part wrong.. I see Moyes as a man who puts his shoes in the same spot every night, hangs his ties the same way, maybe even a little bit OCD and after failing miserably at his last 2 clubs, wants to furnish the Safc shirt with men or boys he knows and trusts.. Just the way I see it like, Everton want Kone, Moyes wants Jagielka and probably Baines too, stick Hibbert in there and we have an official Safc/Everton Orgy ha!
well if Moyes had any balls, and a manager should know how valuable Kone is to Sunderland, the **** should be banging on Shorts door demanding he stays [ as his price will only increase in resale]. if he is sold then ive finished with my home club till we get a new owner.
Haha I make you right mate. Moyes was always seen as a bit of a ditherer at Everton when it came to transfers, but he did his homework and wanted to ensure he was making the right call, not only in terms of ability but in terms of character. He very seldom got it wrong as result, and even less so with a defender. The fact he wants Jags back doesn't surprise me in the slightest, but we'd be mental to let a player of his calibre and temperament to go for relative buttons, despite his age. Baines has just signed a new deal btw, so he's going nowhere. Moyes was brilliant at making the most of limited resources, and shopped and traded with self generated cash for virtually a decade in the PL. IF you lose Kone, you've got the ideal man to recirculate the cash into the squad. I always thought Moyes would end up at Sunderland, even before he got canned from United (which was the ultimate poison chalice after Ferguson). I shall watch your progress with interest, give him time would be my shout. He'll frustrate at times, but he invariably ends up getting it right.
And I out of interest will watch yours. From a ex Coronation Street actor to a very rich man, you lads must be wetting your pants. Qudos to Kenwright though, he always kept the ball rolling, I'm currently surfing American Soaps to find out where the **** Short came from.. Enjoy your season mate..
Give in to one player then there is no point in having a wage structure and will only lead to a free for all. Kone wants away and we will be holding out for a better deal. Wallet loyalty.
What wage structure? Kone is on far, far less than several players who contribute way less. We aren't looking to compete by the looks of it and that's the annoyance.
The one that Kone signed into when he was given a four year contract. He was happy enough six months ago and claiming Sam would give him a better one is possibly nothin but a smoke screen. None of us k now just what players are in value to the club and the same wage situation applies to all other clubs.
I'm just not buying that. I kind of understand the club seeing £18million as a good deal, but I don't believe for a second Kone is chatting ****. If I was offered a pay rise of certain conditions were met and it was rescinded, I'd be ****ing fuming.
