Going off at a tangent but Britain can produce extreme skill. World freestyle champions have been English so skill meets art, met the Yorkshire weather there.

Football schools like these - http://www.firststepssoccer.com/ help to create far more skilful players than kids at junior clubs. generally. The reason being that the fundamentals are skill, skill, skill. And it is South American themed.

English kids have drive and motivation. As a nation England is piss poor at coaching them.

Sorry I missed your post. I agree. It stimulates minds, although even a Bristol City has its own players who can demonstrate a step over etc - Jet could.

Maybe Man City and Pep Guardiola's philosophy underpinned by his emphasis on passing ability will see John Stones being the benchmark for the next generation of defenders ..

Yes, I quite agree. Its a bit of a shame when we cant produce one of our own on that sort of global scale. The nearest we have(had) is probably Rooney, who gets a fair bit of stick and the likes of Beckham and Gazza-
Probably also explains our dismal performances on the International scale.

I have seen a number of times about the pressure of results and so players dont feel free or able to express themselves. Tomlin alluded to this also recently.Be a great shame if this were allowed to continue. Good luck with the coaching and using those methods, that's good to see.

It requires money from parents. Skills based training should be national. Its a skills based game.

At the moment at the Olympics we are seeing how a small nation is more than holding its own versus superpowers. It should be strange that the sport we should be good at we are not, but the UK is a world leader at rowing and cycling (a true World wide sport).

I would like to see the Government, and FA step in to divert far more of TV's cash to train all these young people to be good at the sport we are not good at from a early age. A not un-revolutionary philosophy the French used.

Paul Pogbas transfer fee would pay for more level 2 coaches than curently exist in England and for more for years after,.
