You're not wrong mate. Fans making stupid assumptions based on ignorance. From what I saw of Kone last year he looked great, I thought he was a steal by Big Sam. He's definitely an upgrade on what we have. Can't say I understand quite what's going on here though. He was at Finch Farm yesterday, so presumably had permission from Sunderland to do so, but has now returned back up there today? It would appear Moyes has moved to replace him, so I'd have thought it'd conclude today, but maybe not.
It does seem from his agents actions that he wants to stay here and is trying to force a new deal mate. Issue is the fee you have offered is at the top end of his value and as such SAFC may actually be keener to cash in. You only need read the thread here to see what you will be getting, a very, very good defender and leader. Smashing player for anyone, and you're bang on, a great spot by Sam.
A ball started rolling that afternoon that ended up losing me 250k, that afternoon and its consequences, puts this latest storm into perspective. I got over that but it still cuts, we have got over Sam and we will get over Kone if he leaves, the ball will keep rolling, onwards and upwards.
The general feeling is that Kone will be leaving. If not in the next 24 hours then def before the end of the window. The only way we can keep him is if we offer him a new contract. And if we dont offer him that improved contract then that means we dont want to keep him. Beats me why we dont just offer him the new deal tbh. People on here saying Moyes can use the 18m on new players etc BUT we have hardly spent any money yet and with the new tv deal etc we should already have funds available! No matter how anyone tries to dress it up and put a positive spin on this, it is demoralizing the fans. The board and the manager should be doing all they can to build a side that doesnt pereninially flirt with the drop and im sorry but getting rid of Kone is sending out all the wrong signals. We never win till october at the best of times so it would have been nice to go into the new season with a bit of a feel good factor for a change. Like most i blame Short as he's the common denominator in all these relegation battles.
Well times I've seem Stones never been overly impressed -Kone is a step up from Stones imo. But here's hoping he stays at Sunderland -
Moyes OUT!!!!!!! If this is definitely true - then it'd be interesting what people on here think as an awful lot are blaming Short for this and it turns out it may be Moyes trying to boost his coffers
Stones is a great footballer, but not a great defender. For nearly £50m City can have his 2 or 3 mistakes per game mate.
Short sets the budget, if Moyes feels he has to sell to address our needs adequately then the original budget isn't enough to address our needs adequately. So who's fault is that? It's certainly not Moyes imo.
Theres another video on there now, Kone also says ' the club promised me a new deal' then he shrugs and says they havent offered it, says he wants to stay.
True (if it's definitely right) although I can;t find anywhere than Kone says it's up to Moyes. He says he wants to stay at SAFC but they haven't offered him a new deal. Hopefully the video on FB will give them a kick they need! Way I see it - this could go one of 2 ways: 1. The Club say "We're not going to be bullied into giving you more cash. We'll get the £20m+ that's on the table" (wrong way!) 2. The club say "Well you are one of our best and most loved players - here's the cash" Hoping for number 2 but knowing the stubbornness of our board we will probably end up with £5m + add ons!
Nobody offered him it - Sam Allardyce was reportedly the one who told him he'd get a new deal - he's not here any more
Regardless, he has EARNED a new deal, he has been immense from day one. 'Ooh look we have a saleable asset lets cash in and go back to square minus ****ing 8'. Tinpot ****ing club with this mug running the show. This plus Yann, nowhere to ****ing hide Ellis.
