A month ago I would have been more receptive to Kone leaving. However now? Too late, unless they offer £30 million minimum or unless we have a couple of quality new signings walking through the door at this very moment. If we sell him and replace him with unknowns I'll be pretty pissed off! If we are fed the bullshit that selling Kone means that we could get M'Vila, even more so!

    £20m? £25m? £30m?

3 different figures that people on here have mentioned as acceptable for Kone. As @Bri OBE said before, if we get £20m for a player who has been good for half a season then that's not bad business. Ellis Short is a business man at the end of the day!

£15m profit on a 7 month investment is good business in anyones eyes. We are fans and can't be objective in this as all we want is what we perceive to be the best for the club. We have signed someone who, for all we know, could be a very good centre half - could be as good as or better than Kone.

Or, on the other hand, Kone could end up going absolutely nowhere and as @Safc83 said,. it could all just be a ruse to get him a bigger contract at SAFC

Everton were dire at the end of last season with Stones. The £47.5m they got for him will help them rebuild, but I still think we should tell them to piss off as far as Kone is concerned. Even if we get a shed load of the Stones cash in, who are we going to buy in time to bed in properly? Season starts on Saturday and we'll just be held to ransom by anyone with a half-decent CB...

I think Everton come away with close to bang on 40m, once they have paid Barnsley their sell on fee.

Not that it matters to us like, just saying.

I didn't even know he came from Barnsley TBH. Only been there once, a 1-0 win when Paul Stewart got sent off for a blatant elbow. We had two sides of the ground for that one. I like Barnsley, me...

Stones? Blimey. Pity - I wouldn't mind making forty-odd mill on an over-rated donkey (unless he has more up his sleeve than I've seen so far...)

It was us and Everton challenging for his signature, but he chose them because of his roots. And probably cos they were better too <laugh>

I've seen John Stones look like an absolute world beater in some games. I wouldn't write him off just yet.

I take full responsibility for this...

Whenever I change my Name/Profile picture to a certain player they get sold on...

The only player to defy this has been Billy Jones...

It's been reported now that Everton have knocked us back for Jagielka and won't use him as part of the deal for Kone.

Cause they'll have to buy another CB no doubt.

    I like Jagielka <laugh>

That should give us something to negotiate the price up now, though. If they are just playing take take take, and not willing to give anything up themselves, then that should put us in a strong position to just say, put 25m down and give us a blowie, or we are taking Kone back home with us.

I don't hate him but O'Shea, Jagielka and Kaboul shouldn't make up 75% of our centre backs.
