But we've got Bryan and Goldbourne in that position, I bet he's for the youth development

Haha no... In the England set up and playing regularly for Walsall this is very much a signing for the first team. 2m being talked about.

But look at the teams who are in for him, Spurs, Arsenal, Man City and Liverpool. Methinks we will really be pulling one out of the bag if we beat that lot to the player
And we do have quality and depth already in that position, so unless we are selling Bryan to Everton I can't really see us spending 2m on that position. If we did need to spend anywhere, another centre back would probably be wise, although not imperative is it

Reckon Bryan might be pushed further up into LW permanently, allowing Golbourne and Henry to fight for LB. Would make sense as I doubt LJ wants Tomlin at left wing permanently as he was on Saturday.

But I think Tommy was pushed out there because he had an injury, and we needed mobility in the hole.
Makes you realise how important Tommy is to the team, because his influence was sorely missed. Surprised he actually played tbh

But you could well be right about Bryan

'But I think Tommy was pushed out there because he had an injury'

Junior played Tomlin wide left in every home game last season.
    I didn't understand it then and I still don't.
But hey, we stayed up and Tomlin was brilliant.
Just think he'd be even better centrally, especially with Korey and O'Neil behind him.

Did he? I'm not a ST holder and I wasn't able to get down the Gate at the end of last season but I was under the impression he played behind Kodjia. Fair enough.

Tomlin started wide left midfield but many a time he'd drift in when he saw the opportunity.
However he always started left side.

I'm convinced Junior will play him differently now he has Abraham to partner Kodija with, as I said, Korey and O'Neil behind.

So did I, but then as I would get my fix off the club web site I am quite prepared to be proved incorrect

"I'm convinced Junior will play him differently now he has Abraham to partner Kodija with, as I said, Korey and O'Neil behind."

Hope so RP, because that looks a given

Why are people still thinking we need a CB? I don't get this. We have Flint, Hordur, Ayling (very capable at CB), Williams. Plus we have Vyner developing nicely. Who do you sign and at what cost, who is willing to sit behind those 5 players for an opportunity at two positions available. At a real struggle Little could play there or Pack if we had horrendous injury issues. But you can't buy players and put them on the wage bill and risk them unsettling a squad due to their frustration of not getting a game. We aren't in European tournaments we don't need the depth of Man City. 5 CB's is absolutely plenty!

Well I probably agree with you, but the question was why sign a full back when we have already got 2 splendid full backs fighting it out for the starting role. Shiny suggested that Bryan might be moved upfield, which makes sense. I suggested that re-enforcing another position (such as centre back) might make more sense, but the truth is we are in a good place right now and signing someone just for the sake of it IS pointless.
As far as moving Bryan up field, Johnson has already let it be known he sees Bryan as a Premiership wing-back.
It would not surprise me to find the lad moving on some day, and if there is an opportunity to make a wad of cash AND sign an on-the-up young player for less, well…..

I think we do need more quality at LB, maybe its just me but Golbourne seems very ordinary there.

Oh yeah totally agree! I think if we keep tinkering we are in danger of going the other way and creating a squad with unused playera, but maybe one player is on the way out, such as Bryan. I'd be surprised if a Prem club wanted him though. I don't think he is Championship quality as a left back though. I don't think defensively he is as reliable as a solid LB.

So based on the players being suggested, we have

If Bryan is pushed forward to play left wing, we have O'Dowda right wing. = 2
Now playing Tomlin in the middle with Smith and O'Neil behind him = 3
Playing Tammy and Jimmy up front = 2
Now playing New Signing / Goldbourne plus Mathews, Flint and Hordur = 4
    Plus a goalie

Now I'm no rocket scientist but I'm struggling how we are going to fit 12 players into 11 players unless we ain't playing with the GK or we've got special permission to play with an extra player.
