Gladwin looked knackered by 30 mins and I struggle to believe he could be that unfit this early on in the season unless he had some bug of some kind.....or am I clutching at straws here ??.
Also think many are being rather harsh on Bidwell and Shidipo, who in my opinion will grow in strength and confidence as the season goes on.

OK, I'll qualify what I said. I was disappointed with him, but maybe that's because I was expecting too much. I wanted him to go past people rather than turning to pass backwards (which is why his pass completion was high). Still, he's young and raw, so I shouldn't be too hard on him. Plenty of scope for improvement and he seems to be a trier, which is important.

I think he turned back onto his right foot a lot because he's right footed.
However, he did manage some decent crosses with his left foot too.

I don't think he's mega-quick, so he may not be able to "roast" players for speed.

I like the look of him and I think he should be encouraged and nurtured.

Although Caulker had a really good game yesterday, is he playing to keep him in the shop window before we reach the transfer deadline?
I can't believe we bought Joel Lynch for him to sit on the bench.

What was Bidwell meant to have done wrong? Looked strong to me, one piece of stupidity getting booked swearing (presumably) at the ref when he should have known they are clamping down on this.

He didn't do anything wrong.....that's my point
A few around me in the paddock were slagging him off a few times, which in my opinion, was rather unfair on the lad.

Being a bit over-harsh perhaps but he didn't cut out a cross which allowed Dallas a chance to shoot inside the box. Fortunately Dallas was crap.

He's a good organiser and a captain type which we desperately need but he loses a mark for his likeness to Konchesky.

The booking I don't have an issue with if it becomes the norm but he seemed to pick out Bidwell and ignore Bamba doing it all game.

Me too mate, and I think he'll only get better. The negativity from some R's fans can sometimes be quite astonishing.

I was looking for you again in T5 on Friday evening Stainesey. I am beginning to think you have changed jobs? Every time I go looking to say hello to you, you are not there. Do you still work in T5?

Yes mate, still there. Been off since last Wednesday 'cos I had another template biopsy. Definitely not as bad as the last one so hoping to be back to work this week.
Our paths will surely cross at some point when I'm working, but trying hard to get match days off as the rush to the match after really is a pain.

Ahh ok Stainesey. I mostly fly in and our on match days so that probably explains it. Good luck on the health front. Hope to see you for a pint soon.

Me too! He's the sort of player you want on your team: a real cheeky (i.e. professional), pain in the arse to play against. Not the most skilful player, but hard working, fearless and a wee bit dirty. Yup, I think his booking was for answering back - certainly the challenge that led up to it was nothing. Gladwin spent his time following the man with the ball or standing in a big space, I think I saw him do one good tackle, and I was relieved when he was subbed. He played with the demeanour of a little kid allowed to kick around with the big lads. While I appreciate that this criticism isn't good for his confidence, he hasn't really earned any plaudits in any match I have seen.

Agree with those who thought Bidwell played well, I was one who was impressed and pleased we got him in. Luongo and Polter were a revelation, well done JFH.

    All the best Stainsey.

Coming round to Polter yet? Thought he was a real nuisance on Sunday, and the fact that, in the 94th minute with the game won, he chased a lost cause, out muscled a CB and executed a sharp finish says everything about his commitment.

I don't want to sound fickle but yeah, he might be growing on me. I can not fault his effort and work rate, he always chases and commits (often to lost causes) and as you so rightly pointed out, his goal was a cracker, especially at that angle.
I still have reservations about the lad and don't really see him as our '20 goal a season' striker, with the skills needed to take us to a play off spot....but I'm still hoping he proves me completely and utterly wrong.
Do you think him and Washington up front would be a good pairing ?

He didn't deal with the cross which lead to one of Leeds best chances, for me I also thought for a first performance for us, he was alright and should be starting.

I was discussing my concern on not scoring from open play which seemed to be an issue last year, just a Polter put his foot through the ball. Happy man, some things need improving but first game of the season with players still rusty, great start.

I've not seen Washington play in the flesh. I would prefer to let Polter keep on going with Chery to be honest, but then I'm not a fan of 4-4-2, unless you are chasing the game. Polter can do a job on his own up front, which from what I saw at the Euros, Washington can't. And seeing as we have sent JET on loan and according to JFH want to recruit 1 more striker, I don't think we'll be starting two in attack often.

Also I think we need more goals from midfield, not just a 20 a year striker. Happy for them to be spread about.

It's just so great to start the season with such an emphatic win, the last time we did that (4-0 v Barnsley) we went on to have a great season so I'm feeling great right now, how long is that going to last?
