1. No club in the Premier League’s 24 year history has ever been as woefully unprepared for a season as City are at the moment. 2. “No communication, no manager, no engagement, no signings, no identity, no concessions, no honesty”, railed the Supporters’ Trust. To which we are tempted to add “no chance” – City’s relegation is obviously not guaranteed, but it’s highly likely. The risk of a Derbyesque embarrassment cannot be ruled out; one bookie’s quote of 100/1 on a points tally that falls short of their infamous 2007/8 total has a grisly appeal. Accumulator tips across the land this season will rarely exclude the Tigers. 3. Ehab Allam’s time in charge of City has been an unmitigated disaster. He is miserably out of his depth, combining wretched ignorance with a lethal smugness whose toxic effect may have repercussions long after his dreadful family have left whatever remains of this club. It seems astonishing that he was once regarded as the smarter, more reasonable Allam. Smart and reasonable are charges that will never again be levelled at this thoroughly inadequate individual. 4. Five days from the start of the season, and we still have no manager. Ehab apparently has no clue who to replace Steve Bruce with, or even how you go about doing it. Mike Phelan is currently the favourite, if only because the other names mentioned either don’t want to tarnish their CVs with the Hull City car crash or won’t be allowed to leave their present posts. Under ordinary circumstances, Phelan would be a distinctly underwhelming appointment. Despite being just two years Bruce’s junior he has nothing approaching his former boss’ managerial experience. However, as City have actually performed creditably in pre-season (usual caveats apply) and Curtis Davies’ amusing comments demonstrate there seems to be a gallows humour/siege mentality occuring under his stewardship, there’s probably little alternative at present. 5. That gallows humour and/or siege mentality we desperately hope exists is just about our only hope of avoiding a total calamity. Team spirit can carry you a long way, and in the absence of anything else positive, we’ll need it. 6. Absent from that team will be Mo Diamé. Sure, we know that all things being equal Newcastle are a bigger club than City. But they aren’t equal, we’re in the Premier League and they’ve just lost at Fulham in the Championship. That one of our most gifted players has chosen the second tier over life in the Premier League with City is a damning indictment on the shambles you’re presiding over, Ehab. 7. We may be soon saying the exact same things about last season’s top scorer, Abel Hernández, if Aston Villa activate the player’s buy out clause. As bewildering as it is that a player would eschew the top flight for the division we’ve just left, can anyone blame any player for wanting out of the farce Hull City have become? 8. It isn’t just players on their way out of the club either, as coaching staff are jettisoned in unsettling circumstances and front office staff are set to depart. The owners appear to be adopting a scorched earth policy as their tenure comes to an overdue end. 9. The season kicks off on Saturday, with the visit of the champions Leicester. From a footballing perspective it’s impossible to look past an away win. The Hull Daily Mail headline of “Hull City sweating on fitness of Shaun Maloney and Greg Luer”, when the latter spent last season playing in League Cup ties for us before representing Scunthorpe and Stevenage on loan tells you everything you need to know about the depth of talent available for whoever will be picking the XI for the Premier League opener. 10. There are likely to be protests on Saturday, and although there is inevitable disagreement about what form those protests should take, there are few supporters who would suggest protest is unjustified. That in itself is remarkable. http://www.ambernectar.org/blog/2016/08/things-we-think-we-think-232/
Great article, sums up how I feel. Just so depressing - it could've been so much different. From on the optimism after winning at Wembley, to this.....
Great article, It's beyond depressing. They are systematically destroying our club through incompetence and inept behaviour. I wish we could run them out of town the pair of **** buckets.
The Allam family have reigned over two promotions to the premier league, three wembley appearances including a cup final, a european appearance, our highest ever league finish, opened the purse strings and brought in the best players this club has ever seen all whilst keeping a tight grip on the finances and ensuring no danger to the clubs existence. But we haven't competed in the champions league, even Leicester City are in the champions league, so protests are absolutely justified.
Regarding 4 and preseason performances, we won every preseason game under Hateley. Then we opened the season at Mansfield...
I was with you until the last line, we are after all little old Hull City can't expect too much. Oh and you forgot the Allams saved the club from extinction so we are forever in their debt.
The Allams have forced the most successful manager in the clubs history to resign. They have had 3 weeks to recruit a replacement but can't seem to find anyone who wants to manage our club in the Premier League. They have presided over a pre season that has produced 3 major injuries and done nothing about out it. They have been unable/unwilling to recruit any players to strenghten our season in the Premier League. They have produced a matchday pricing structure which penalises fans for being under 16 or over 65. They have succeeded in alienating the 'customers' they're trying to sell their product to. Then to cap it all, they have pissed off a group of buyers who wanted to buy a business they say they are desperate to sell. So, yeah, they're doing a damn fine job
As a mark of respect and gratitude membership cards could be replaced with membership hats, with the chip in the peak. That way, each turnstile could have a framed picture of the Allams, and people could doff their caps as they enter. Failing that, I think Allam themed toilet paper would be more popular and cost effective.
It's obvious the Allams have one clear objective to the detriment of anything else Hull City related, get their cash out ASAP whatever the consequences and in doing so sqeeze every last penny out! As a result I don't see them investing much player wise, and will be attempting to maximise whatever loan signings they can get their hands on. I will be seriously concerned IF they splash the cash as it may signal that Ehab see's himself and his family staying put for 2-3 years whilst they rinse the club and we get relegated a couple of times in the process. If a shining knight does exist, they are going to have pay a premium to acquire the club next month, unless we supporters can to some degree hit the Allams in the pocket and send a clear signal they are no longer welcome. Peaceful demonstrations, how about not a single supporter buys any food or drink from the concourse when we play Leicester.....lots of wastage and simple to apply! Seems we are well truly back to the days of Warren Joyce's great escape; he's done it once; I'd have him over Phelan any day!
Totally feeling the same as you The thing thats ****ing me off the most is its not incompetence i think its all very very calculated Just wish everybody would totally boycott shirts and tickets so they make weekly losses and **** off
How about nobody buys shirts or goes to games, would be easily the best way to hit them in the pocket Theyd **** off with all the bad press about why city are getting under 10k a game while in the prem
I wonder how many protesters will turn up in 1 904 kits or indeed the new one? I hope someone gives them a slap and tells them to **** off.
Not enough will boycott matches. We are, 3 generations (plus 1 remembered at the stadium with a wall plaque) will be missing our 1st match through choice since the move to the KC. **** it.
11. Despite points 1 to 10 above, which point out the shambles the club has become and continues to be, we would politely ask everybody who has become upset, depressed, disillusioned and plain angry at everything Hull City to put their feelings to one side come kick off time. We ask you to please bite your tongues and not to rock the boat any further. We ask this as we don't want the enjoyment and excitement of Irememberwaggy's matchday to be spoiled. Ta.
