Assuming that we all think we're going to be right up there this season who do we think will be our main rivals for promotion? And dare I say it the league one title? I fancy Huddersfield to be our biggest threat. Although they've lost Pilkington they snapped up Danny ward who I think is a great little player while also keeping the majority of their squad together. I think Sheffield Wed we'll be a lot stronger than last season and we'll definitely be in and around the top 6. Sheffield Utd however I think will struggle and don't expect Danny Wilson to be in charge for too long. In fact I don't think any of the relegated clubs will be right up there. I expect Preston to make the play offs mainly because Phil brown seems to know the lower leagues pretty well. Scunny will end up mid table mainly due to the number of bigger clubs and budgets in the division this season I think if Bournemouth were to go up it had to be last season, again their squad has been raided as we would know! Making another challenge without the likes of Hollands wiggins Robinson and maybe Ings as well would be a huge ask for anyone. Orient had a great end to last season and Russell Slade seems to be slowly building a nice little squad. (a certain david mooney just signed up) so I would've be too surprised if they had a good season and McDons always seem to be there or there abouts also in Karl Robinson I think they have a fantastic coach. Finally us! I think we've signed some excellent players. Pre season stand out being Dale Stephens having seen him against welling and Bosch he looks very composed on the ball and a great creator of chances and space. Also Danny Greens ability to pick people out with a cross will be a huge asset to us this season. Only worry I have is the defensive situation. Like most others I know very little about Hughes, wiggins and Evina look excellent going forward but very shaky defensively (remind me of Youga when we went down from championship) and Taylor and Morrison I think both look like very good defenders but haven't looked a solid pair yet, early doors I know but let's hope they forge a good understanding sooner rather than later! But my top 6 would look something like this: 1st CAFC 2nd Huddersfield 3rd. Sheffield Wed 4th. Orient 5th. Preston 6th. McDons Discuss and debate...
I'm only going to predict the top 6- can't tell what order, but here goes: CAFC 'Udders Sheff Weds Preston Scunny Chesterfield (usually one surprise package so I'll opt for them)
I hope your optimism proves right but we are starting out with a completely new team so first they have to gel with each other and secondly CP is still a very inexperienced manager and still has a lot to learn but saying all that i do believe we will go up whether it be automatic or playoff's i don't really mind.
I would be amazed if Southampton didn't win both the Championship and League one this season. Did you know they invented football
Us as in Bournemouth will be up there againd. Have lost a couple of players but still have a good core of players, and attacking wise, we will be a threat against anyone...
Granted with us losing some players.... Wiggins i think was the better ofthe players to have lost in that list. Hollands, well he only started due to lack of options, and has been more that replaced and this year we have Lovell Ings and Symes, all fit for the start of the season....
do you think ur team has improved since last season and will u be booing either hollands or wiggins on sat
Bpl234, I've seen both Wiggins and Hollands in 3 pre-season games so far, and Hollands has seemed fantastic in all three whereas Wiggins has been absolutely appauling - doesn't seem to be able to tackle, kicks the ball into the stands everytime it lands at his feet and his only strength seems to be his crossing.
For me, Yeovil will be the dark horses in League One. I can see them getting a play-off place. Top 3 will be Charlton, Preston and Wednesday, all battling for top spot. But we will prevail in the end.
I agree Sheff Wednesday and Huddersfield are the main threat to Charlton. Still, three go up! I think Preston could struggle at the wrong end of the table. A badly demoralised club. And I cannot see Sheff Utd or Scunthorpe threatening us either.
I thought that Shef Wed would do well this season, but I'm beginning to have doubts. There seems to be something wrong, very wrong. Now, we all know that its takes Megson quite a while to win over the fans, but even in pre-season they don't look like a Megson team, maybe Milan is getting cold feet? I reckon the top six will look something like this; Charlton - Some good signings & the board are clearly backing Chris. Hudders - Lost a couple key players, but still a good bet for promotion. -------------- Mk Dons - Looked decent last season, add to that some more experience Preston - Brown knows what it takes, that much is true. Brentford - Below the radar, but a pretty strong L1 squad. Sheff Utd - Loads of problems, but one last throw of the dice before L1 becomes a permanent home.
We really like having you on here Rocky, but you are going to have one hell of a tough season. Good summary g3org3. I'm going to buck the trend here and say I think it's going to be The Blades that finish higher of the two Sheffield clubs. The clubs with discipline and method will have a good season again and I expect Yeovil, Carlisle and Hartlepool to upset a lot of people. Brentford, with astute signings and a new manager will be a threat all season. Orient's forward line is going to scare the hell out of a lot of defences, and they have the key signing of Cureton, surely one of the best players in the division. And then there's us - and we're going to be top.
1st - Charlton 2nd - Huddersfield --------------------------------- 3rd - Sheffield Wednesday 4th - Brentford 5th - Chesterfield 6th - Sheffield United ---------------------------------- And whilst Im at it might as well 21st - Walsall 22nd - Bury 23rd - Notts County 24th - Stevenage Surprise Contendor who'll just miss out on the Play-Offs - Exeter City or Leyton Orient
Am I the only one who thinks we might be getting ahead of ourselves. Scunny are consistently good at this level, both Sheffield clubs should be strong, Preston could push(less likely of relegated). Bournemouth haven't changed too much, notts are bulking up and of course Huddersfield. I'd be delighted with a playoff spot. My fear is over confidence may kill our crowd happiness, support level and then player performance and pressure like we've seen before. I really hope not though, we HAVE to start well to avoid this
