The Chairboys kick off their EFL2 campaign with a trip to West Sussex, looking to get of to a winning start against Crawley Town, this is our second ever visit to the Broadfield Stadium, the first was last August a 0-0 bore draw a score we got used to last season, lets hope the array of new signings create new life up front. Gareth looks like being without Paul Hayes and new signing Max Muller who are both weeks away from returning, but he will be hoping Aaron Pierre and Paris will be back after missing the last two weeks of pre-season, but one thing I can say is Scott Brown will start in goal. Crawley boast two ex-Chairboys in their ranks Matt Harold and Jason Banton but both have been struggling with injury they also have several unpronounceable players after being taken over by a Turkish businessman. This looks like a usual cagey season opener and not a lot of goals so I expect the lads to return to Bucks with a point
Pierre plays PCH and Hayes both out though and Southwell makes his League debut with the beast on the bench.
Just seen that the ref for today sent 9 off in 28 games last season and booked 70,that's a hell of a lot of reds to be dishing out.
Frustrating first half in which we should have been a couple up. Distribution from the two centre halves has been appalling even when the pressure is off. Southwell has had some really good moments and has brought some skills to the side. Most of our threats are atrial from set pieces. Here's hoping for some goals down this end in the second half!
I read that there was fighting among our fans today, can anyone confirm and if so what the hell was that all about?
Bit of scuffling behind the goal apparently between two lads and their girlfriends. Nothing major, just heated words I think and some posturing. One or two tried to step in to break it up, which probably made it look worse from afar. All over in two minutes
Enough said really when their centre back gets man of the match. The ref was so picky it just annoyed both sets of fans. Moving the ball a yard and stopping play over and over to ensure free kicks etc were taken just where he wanted. The game was littered with stoppages and didn't really flow in the second half. Crawley took on the Wycombe mantra of time wasting and fouling. We looked impotent in front of goal in the second half. Never felt the goal was coming. As soon as Weston came off and we replaced with with Bloomfield you knew that are pace and creativity had gone. All said, they were pretty dire and I think will struggle this season (sounds rich I know after just losing), but apart from the mistake that we made for their goal, they looked less likely than us to score. Worryingly we lost Weston and O'Nien and with Hayes, Freeman and PCH out we have a thin squad and no pace. To top it all I think I got caught speeding getting to the game by a bloody camera on the M23 Should have gone to the cider and sausage festival with Guy Wanderer in Brackley instead!
I thought the ref lost the game completely in the second half. It looks like the ref has turned over a new leaf this year you would have needed a lot of fingers to count the free kicks we had, & corners were not far behind . After having I think 3 shots blocked after there goalkeeper made a complete mess of a cross in the first half. It was a lot more lively than the 0-0 draw last season. I can see there being some afters in the return
Not good enough but actually not too far away - had an early chance of gone it it may well have changed the game. we just seemed to lack a spark really and the injury concerns are already becoming a real issue. As for the ref he was ridiculously whistle happy, with the exception of what looked to me a blatant penalty on Bloomfield. I feel he lost control in the second half, but good to see a red card for dissent, too many referees let that go and i wonder if we will see more red cards for that this season
Can't disguise the fact that I am disappointed with this result as I suspect Crawley are a long way off being one of the best teams in the league (being 2nd favs for relegation) . Given our injuries I think we will struggle against Grimsby

Been off the pies for a bit Rocky. Think thats why the club is in dire financial straights now as the food takings are down
