If it was someone I'd been in conversation with for a several months like we mostly have, then there is a strong possibility I would. If I speak to people my feelings can often be noted in my tone of voice.

If you were in a pub talking to me about this topic and said what you've said today, I'd most likely say, "Get a grip mate, we've got three weeks left of the window"... that person would probably counter my view, agree with it or even say I had a point. I doubt very much they'd whine at me for my comment. If they did, they did. So what.

Me and you have been here before FLT. I think I could have a much better debate/conversation or whatever with you in person than we ever can posting on a forum. Interpretation online can pretty much flip a whole persons perspective on what has a actually been said and the manner in which it was meant.

I think people who get annoyed by a few disgruntled opinions on an internet forum are in no position to tell people to stay calm.

 

I take it from some of the more recent posts there really isn't any transfer news one way or another?

 

No news. Just people worrying about lack of big signings and the (slim) possibility of Fonte leaving!

Apologies FLT, I should have clarified. I'm not troubled by the "keep calm, there are 3 weeks left" camp, which perhaps you are a part of. I agree with those posters, I imagine we will sign an attacker in the next 3 weeks, and if I'm proved correct I'll be delighted (and relieved). I'm more confused by the "keep calm, we have enough attackers for the season" camp. I struggle to see how anyone could suggest that we don't need another attacker at all in this transfer window; I really can't see the players currently at our disposal scoring enough goals to mount a serious European challenge.

 

I think the big worry is Jayrod and how we use Charlie. Charlie is a goal scorer in the right system, I'm not worried about his fitness really as he's been the same the for a few seasons. It would be a gamble on Jayrod and that is the question mark for me.

We could also sign an attacking midfield CAM type that would add to attacking options.

 

The club seem quite happy to tweet ...the skipper is back.

 

I bet you can trawl through this entire thread and not find one poster say they're happy with the strength in depth of our attack.
Thats why the posts against this mythical view are so perplexing.

 

Claude Puel spoke to Sky after the game and said that "I do anticipate new signings" with at least one player to be brought in next week.

 

The other big question is whether we continue with the diamond, IMO, because it'll determine exactly what we need.. If we do, I think that we need a goal-scorer who fits it; this doesn't look like the system for Charlie, so my ideal would be a striker and a dynamic attacking mid. If we're likely to revert to a 4-3-3, I'd probably target a wide player and an attacking mid who can be deployed in multiple ways.

And Sky have now retracted the statement about a signing this week, saying that they misquoted Puel.

 

Damn Sky getting my hopes up. Although signings is plural so...

 

Watch people freak out when we sign a attack mid and a wide player (maybe a cb). Then leave it there.

 

Can cross Ziyech off the list; sounds like he's finally officially on the way to Roma.
