    I was at the front at the end when Roger Johnson mouthed off to the Charlton fans. Quite clear what he said;

    "Don't f*ucking come then"

Any half fit Club would heavily fine him this weekend, particularly as over 1,000 of us had travelled up to watch that crock of sh1t.

    The team today:

Very slow and very negative. Holmes apart, absolutely no cutting edge whatsoever. Bury were piss poor and there for the taking yet we hardly troubled their keeper.

The midfield of Jackson- Foley- Crofts stinks to high heaven and should never be seen again.

Novak was woeful IMO - slow and clumsy. Slade left it far too late to bring Lookman on.

I stayed to the end to boo the players and that fat c*nt of a manager off.

Worrying times. It's going to be a very long season folks, with still no light at the end of the tunnel.

That was every bit as dispiriting as I feared.

The lack of squad depth was made painfully obvious by the fact that our bench was composed entirely of academy products, of whom only Lookman and to a lesser extent Holmes-Dennis have made an impact in the first team. As things stand, we are going absolutely nowhere; talented though the young guns may be, it's unfair to ask them to bear the brunt of League 1 football in all its physicality.

The one new signing who stood out, Holmes, only served to lay bare how little creativity we have in the rest of the midfield. Jackson's best days are behind him, and by the looks of things so are Crofts's. Foley was neat and tidy but contributed little going forward. Bizarrely, this is the one area of the squad we have cover in (and that's without considering Ba and Kashi). A fat lot of good it'll do with so little attacking threat.

As a consequence of this, the prospects of getting the best out of Ajose are slim. He needs chances to be created for him, and bar one chance in the first half smothered by the Bury keeper, and one tame shot from distance, he had none. Novak struggled to do anything right and when he had his only chance was just unable to reach a low cross from Fox. Lookman did OK and Hanlan put himself about a bit, but by then it was too late. The only time we looked like we might score was straight after half time, but in the end all our pressure amounted to was a few dangerous crosses which the Bury defence was able to clear.

Rudd looked pretty good and is exactly what we desperately needed. Pearce put in a no-frills, no-nonsense display which bodes well, Fox was decent enough and Solly was superb, particularly in the second half. That just leaves Johnson. Any positivity he might have taken from a vaguely-not-terrible performance was lost by his appalling outburst at a fan at the end. He really does seem to be a pretty poor excuse for a human being, and the sooner Bauer comes back the better.

The travelling fans were in good voice and only turned at the end, which was as much a result of Bury's time-wasting as anger at Roland. Kudos to the bagpiper, but he was fighting an uphill battle to get the fans to sing Valley Floyd Road at the right speed. Slow down, please!

Today was a reminder of how poor League 1 football is. Bury are not a good side, but we are no better, and Slade has possibly the biggest job of his career on his hands to turn us around. It seems like we'll be plying our trade at places like Bury for a long time yet.

I've hated Johnson since before we signed him ...opinion obviously worsened since and couldn't believe we resigned him ...then he was no where near the first team.
Since first game preseason he's been Slades no1 son.
Today his behaviour was that of a ######### sack the beep now

Very hard to understand Slade's tactics yesterday. Away to Bury FFS and he plays 3 defensive midfielders to protect the back 4. Jackson offers zero threat out wide as we all know, but Slade apparently doesn't. The tactics in so far as there were any consisted of lumping long balls for Ajose to run on to, or giving the ball to Holmes (MOM) who had no support. In short, Slade set us up yesterday for a 0-0 draw. He only became animated on the touchline after 73 min when we went behind. The programme notes of both the Bury owner & manager proved that they are a little club just thrilled to be in the same league us "ex Premier League Charlton" - and yet they were by far the better side.

We were playing Bury not Barcelona - not good enough from Slade by a long chalk.

Felt for Johnson to be fair. Didn't see the supposed verbal retaliation - but he took a **** load of flack all game. There was no difference between him and Pearce to be fair

Can't agree with you there Super. Johnson has got more previous than Ronnie Biggs, and a few more charming anecdotes have come out about his behaviour since yesterday's incident. Part of the responsibility of being a seasoned pro is that you take criticism on the chin - it goes with the six figure salary. I was down the front at the end as I said, and heard nobody swear at Johnson in particular, although plenty at this stage were p1ssed off with the team.

There is no way back for Relegator Roger after that. Beyond the pale. A leper.

Fans will always look to jump him because he is a flash and cocky twat, who doesn't have the footballing ability to back up his persona.
The Club are definitely aware of the incident yesterday, and given that Slade has said he is so strong on "rules" it will be interesting to see what action is taken.

I agree with you BTW on Pearce- I just cannot fathom why an *ambitious* club that really wanted promotion would break up a CB partnership of Texeira and Bauer at this level <whistle>

He brings it on himself by his behaviour.
At Bromley in a side full of young kids he spent the game calling Muldoon ,Hanlon and various other kids F'ing C's at any opportunity for next to nothing.
Odious human being for me all that you imagine an up themselves footballer to be like.
Couldn't careless how he performs tho as a rule he's ****e anyway .
