Yes, very much! This whole **** could bring a mentality of backs against the wall from the players, I hope so anyway. No matter how bad we've played in the past, I can't help but keep checking the score, even if I've turned it off.
After the playoffs I thought we had the basis of a decent team which had the advantage of prem experience & of being together for a good while, 3-4 decent additions would have made us very competitive - better than 'Boro & Burnley to my mind & better than many pundits estimations. All the crap has clearly made it more difficult but such is the way; out of adversity may come good & hopefully the squad are even tighter than before, Curtis's picture is a good sign maybe. I believe we will have new owners, new manager & new players. I think this will give the supporters such a boost that the atmosphere at the KCom (albeit with 12k crowds!) will be rocking again. After 50 yrs of support I have never felt lower about our club than this pre-season & that is mainly because of the petty spitefulness of our owners more than anything, I can deal with the usual greed and crookedness that we've had before, but the divisive, dumb petty mindedness has been something else entirely. This season could be memorable - one of those "I was there" seasons - like a great fightback from 4-0 down (Sheff W again) I have a good feeling about this season & I am looking forward to sticking it to all those know-it-all London centric pundits et al. Probably.
Yes because I think we have reached such a state of mismanagement that a change at the top must soon be a certainty. And then, once that happens, I can go back.
I hope you've run that by the better half. In my experience once you miss a week even they make out you've never gone out before.
I'm really looking forward to this season. I have a strong preference for seeing my team play in the top league. And this is the first season for a while when I'm not involved in off field matters. Bring it on!
Looking forward to the first game and joining in with all protests. Looking forward to meeting Ben again and hopefully Sir Stanley Google
Very well said BT. My feelings entirely. If we have a half decent start I think much of the present doom and gloom will begin to dissipate. The present squad is tight knit and experienced in the top division, and a few judicious additions and a new Manager will help. But the Allams have to go !! Bring on Leicester..
Cannot wait! Start of my 70th season following City. Leicester match is live on TV here with the transmission starting at 2100 hrs.
Not looking forward at all. The reality is that even if we get a half decent manager appointment and some reasonable first team signings, the Allams still appear to be going nowhere and while that remains the case, we will still have the negativity hanging around the place.
I think there is a togetherness among the fans and players not seen in a while....unfortunately, I cannot see us winning too many games, just because of lack of numbers. In that sense, it could be an embarrassing and depressing slog. 1 more injury or sale and our squad becomes almost laughable. Part of me almost wishes it gets worse just to expose the Allam's ruthless asset stripping and seeming determination to take out what they can and damn the consequences. A few weeks ago, I mistakenly thought they may have wheedled Bruce out in order to finance a new manager with signings as they didn't trust Bruce's transfer policy. However, it is getting to a stage now where we are explicitly bringing the notion of at least attempting to compete into disrepute.
I personally think... hope... pray... that that is still the strategy. But I imagine that they are approaching unrealistic targets and not getting them, approaching realistic targets and pissing them off with silly stipulations and penny-pinching contract terms, and generally blundering around in the way the Allams do. The end result may still end up being Mike Phelan in the dug out and Guy Branston at the back - but it's cock up rather than conspiracy at work.
Couldn't have put it better - it's a damn shame for everyone. Perhaps time for a truce, Happy, what do you think?
Polly I think those of us who've followed the "swings and arrows of outrageous fortune" of Hull City year in year out since the 1940s, such as Blue Mountain Bear, and Roo, myself, and others on here may have a slightly different perspective on the current chaos surrounding the Club. I'm as infuriated by the owners actions over the past 2-3 years as anyone else on here, but I still wake up every morning almost euphoric that we are actually about to begin another season in the top tier of English football, with the quality of players that we could only dream about 15 years ago. For a good part of the past 70 years the highlight of my week in Canada and the US was reading our match reports in a tattered Green Mail which often took weeks to arrive. Now I can wake up at 6.30 on Saturday mornings, turn on the big screen, and watch the lads in real time playing against some of the best teams in the world, and actually being competitive. All I can say is...Thank you Lord.!! Despite all the current chaos, its still far better than I could have expected in my wildest dreams years ago. I'm proud to be from Hull and say I support Hull City
Canada Tiger I would take being in division 4 and a fight for promotion without the Allams. Rather then being in the premier league with the Allams . I really don't care what league we are in as long as those two piss off.
Well said Canadatiger - it's refreshing to read some realistic thoughts rather than the usual negative defeatist twaddle that we get on here! I only go back 50 years but everything you say still applies.
I hope you enjoy your watching Canada but can I say it is easier supporting from 5,000 miles away than deciding whether to buy a crooked membership or not. Enjoy Saturdays game mate.
How wrong could you be. It is almost unbearable following City from the other side of the world. Having followed City for 40+ years and having a season pass every year before I left, it is like having one of your arms cut off, if you move abroad. Waking up in the middle of the night to listen to a crappy internet radio feed of Burnsy & Swanny.....trying to justify to your other half that spending almost 2,000 quid to watch 90 minutes of football is money well spent....is not exactly easy !!! To be honest, now I am back here in the UK its a lot worse, having to listen to all the moaning gets whinging about having to change seats, having no manager etc..... you don't know how lucky you are !!!!!
