I've just read that we did not win one Premiership match, last season, when Barton didn't play.

So lets get rid of him, and good riddance. Our Foreign Legion will get us out of the mire, when things get tough. Won't they?

The main criticism of Barton seems to be that he is acting just a childishly as Ashley is.

While neither of them is going to win any awards for maturity out of this current debacle, that hardly seems like a decent reason for getting rid of him. But you're right: I'm sure we couldhave managed the 4 - 4 without him.

That is a very worrying stat and shows how important he was. I feel a bit sorry for the new players. Having the likes of Nolan and Barton around with their PL savvy would have been a great help to them.

It's a case of wait and see with the new forgein players.

Barton and Nolan were the heart of our team last season.

    Ashley and Llambias strike again.

I'm sure Barton only missed a few games last season and in some of those we were also missing Tiote and Nolan. Not to mention Gosling, Ben Arfa etc etc. We also have Cabaye and Marveaux now so that argument is completely irrelevant if I'm being honest.

From tweets from other squad members, it would appear that Enrique, Sammi, Simpson are on Barton's side. I expect there are many others, who don't dare put their heads above the parapets, for fear of a fine and/or being shown the door, by Mike Assad and his enforcer Derek Al Lambias

That being so, I see real prespects of a divided dressing room, next season, with senior players, like Harper, Smith, and most of the young local lads on one side, and the french speakers on the other side. Remember what happened the last time?

While I will always hope for the best, I am beginning to fear that history is about to repeat itself.

I don't see any suggesting that the OP is not supporting the team or is lookingfor ****e to stir. I think he is saying we are losing a player that is more valuable than some on this board appear to appreciate.

I beleive he may also be implying that the decision to let him gois a poor one.

Why do either of these statements upset you so much ?

What exactly did Simpson, Enrique and Sammi say??

Cause i've got them in Twitter and not seen anything that makes me think that.
Other Enriques comments which he was fined for, I've not seen anyone backing him.

People have a right to speak there mind an opinions if it's done in the right way.
But Barton has been mouthing off long before he even joined Twitter, so this is something that has been stewing for a while. Funny how he joins Twitter not long after his contract talks break down!!!!!!

As a player I like him, but as a person I'm getting the impression he has put on a good 'good guy' face and now the real Barton is coming out.

I'm not an Ashley supporter but as a supporter can see that as an employee Barton has stepped well out of line, and those that argue a footballer is not a normal occupation your right.
The focus on what you say and do is magnified and blown out of proportion even more so than a normal job (especially if your are an NUFC player).
So everything he said he knew would get back to the board and the press would pick up on it and over analyse the hell out of it.

So he knew what he was doing all along, and as an employer the club have the right to act on it as they see fit.
I still beleive there is more to this if Ashley is prepared to loose money on him, when he could sell him on for something.

If he loved the club and supporters so much, why has he not just kept his mouth shut and seen out his last year???

This. Why if you think its a mistake to let Barton go and think the club is to blame for the situation, that you are a doom and gloom merchant or allowing your Ashley hatred to colour your judgement, or you're not supporting the team or not a "true" supporter? I've lost a bit of respect for the board over the last few days as people don't seem to be able to accept we don't all have the same opinion. We used to get this on the old 606.

Also if people don't like the subject matter so much that it just leads them to abuse, why just not ignore the thread and find one you have an interest in. Its bizarre.

to me this is looking for ****e that isn't there unless the op has access to the dressing room of course not one player joey/nolan included has said there is unrest amongst the players themselves their issues are with the board
plus out of the others mentioned only jose has tweeted his displeasure at events the others tweets could be interpreted as anything
i was telling him to stop the speculation into player unrest and just get behind the team

    This.

I dont think there is any doubt his quality on the pitch will be missed. However, as Aldridge says above, the squad looks quite a bit different now (especially midfield) so lets just wait and see what happens when the season actually starts before the cries of "relegation battle" start.

I think that it is healthy for people on here to have differing opinions. It's what football is all about.

But we must remember that we are all fans of NUFC. We all love our club and want what's best for it, but just have different opinions.
