Yet another player linked, but this one is a bit more spicy... I'm hearing rumours that the mancs have first refusal on any sale, and if all the rumours are true, it cold be a great chess move by Kenny. Scenario A... Kenny has left it late to even look at him, as the mancs are now spent up, and will have to pass on him, so we get him from under Drunken Tramp's pickled nose. Scenario B... Kenny doesn't want him, but "Fergie drinks the booze" is so obsessed with us, that he uses up his remaining transfer budget to spite Kenny, and ends up not being able to buy a central midfield player. Either would work for me, not that I'm gagging for Shawcross, but he ain't a bad lad, and if it helps raise gobshites blood pressure, I'm all for it ;-)
I think he's a very good defence, and he's organised the Stoke defence very well. Would be a welcome addition in my opinion.
or Option C: United buy Shawcross and buy a midfielder. I don't think this will happen however as Shawcross while being good, probably doesn't have as much potential as our other young CBs.
Not a chance,Let Ferguson buy him...for 10 timesv more than he sold him to Stoke for. I reckon that would be excellent business...for Stoke. This would make Ferguson the biggest laughing stock in Europe....oops I forgot he already is after Man Yoos surrender to Barcelona.
You would spend about 15 million on an average player just to annoy United? And you are not at all embarrassed about it?
Noblelox. Let Ferguson sign him...he will be made look like a complete tit.Well thats nothing unusual. Ferguson sold him to Stoke for £2 million....Stoke want £20 million. Only a complete ****** would attempt to sign a player for £18 million more than he sold him for. The only club that attempted to something almost as stupid was Chelsea who wanted to pay £18 million for Glen Johnson having sold him to Portsmouth for £4 million.
He's a good defender. Would probably pay £10M for him and I would suspect that Stoke would want £20M for him. Wouldn't pay that much for him.
Why would Liverpool pay £10 million for a defender that Man United sold for £2 million. Should we also buy Wes Brown for £5 million?, Man United sold him to Sunderland for £1 million.
Because he has improved massively since he left and has become an established Premier League centre-back. To be perfectly honest, I'm not that bothered about him playing for United when he was younger. I'm sure if he moved to Liverpool, he would give 100% for Liverpool Football Club. And no, we shouldn't buy Wes Brown.
KPR, why do you keep using players' former transfer prices as a way to 'prove' their current value? What, once a player is sold for a fee, he can never be worth more than that? Wes Brown is 31, past his best, and was never really that great anyway. He was just a utility man in defence. Shawcross is 23, a regular for Stoke, and a good prospect for the future. Don't think they're both the same simply because they were once on Utd's books.
Shawcross has great potential. He's been good for a couple of years now and is only 23. If we can get him for <10 million - I'd bite their hand off!
If they aren't good enough for Man United they aren't good enough for us. Before you mention Peter Beardsley...Fat Ron ****ed up thinking that Norman Offside was a better player and Beardo played one league cup game for them.
Well, it appears United may well be interested in him now. He was let go as a youth and has obviously improved since then. Stop judging a player in 2011 based on what he did or who he was sold to in 2007 or whenever, especially a young one.
United have first refusal and they also get a percentage of any sell on fee. I don't know how that works if they buy him, but if we buy him,we would be giving them money, I wouldn't give them the steam off my piss.
