Hmm, not sure its based on history.

I think its just the opposite of a new manager coming into a club and getting his own players in as a means of getting ears on the ground (e.g. Rafa-Pellegrino, Rodgers-Borini). Getting rid of LVG's man and sending a message out that its his team now.

Oh he played him in a friendly, he must be great at giving youth a chance. Next you'll be telling us how playing a team full of youngsters in the league cup and Europa league group stages is evidence of a manager trusting his youth players and giving them a chance.

 

I wasn't a friendly, it was a competitive match between the FA Cup holders and the Champions. I wouldn't expect you to understand Lucas, giving youth a chance doesn't seem to be in your manager's vocab. He seems to be shipping off every decent youth player you have. How's Flanagan (aka the second coming) getting along?

 

To be honest I was never really on the Flanagan hype train. He's a solid ish premier league full back who makes the odd eye catching crunching tackle. Not good enough long term for where we want to be.

I think he's shipping out the players who have no future here out on loan. I think he'll keep the ones he feels have a chance of making the grade here.
