I think you are wrong if you think getting players is going to be easier than getting a manager - unless we go for championship standard players.

Put yourself in his position. Being held on a string by the Allams as their last resort if all else fails. He has roots in the North West and all of those connections with Man U. He's better connected than the jokers running our club. When they've got nobody by next Thursday he can name his price , assuming a PL club has to have a 'manager' in place to play a fixture. Why the **** would he want to stay in East Yorkshire after being thought of as 'you'll do' by the Allams , PL or not. He might actually have some pride.

 

To get pl football on his cv. No future employer will see this as anything but a massive tick for hiring him so it's all doing him a world of good.

 

Some people don't like to be made a fool of , irrespective on what's on the CV.

As I said, no one looking in expects us to be anything other than 20th. If Phelan has us playing half decent football and can pick up a few points, that will be a mark of success for him.

 

Weeks of ****ing about and we're back at square one, **** sake if it is Phelan, he could have been a couple a weeks into trying to sort this car crash that is the city out .
