I have to disagree mate, I think we are a big asset to him at the moment, I think he's a devious man and knows exactly what's what..
Don't want to answer a question with a question but I will, just what does Safc get out of Short? 10 years in the Prem, for him at least 8 years of money, TV money and whatever else, a great portfolio being attached to the biggest football league in the world and still crawling around the floor as a team because he milks us to probably generate cash for his other ****e......I did say probably.. So what do we get out of it mate?
I do too. We put 48k arses on seats, have a fantastic stadium and state of the art facilities in the richest league in the world and our sponship is inside the top ten in the league. We've bags of assests. They only thing making us unattractive is the club debt that he's accumulated. Need to see him doing something to put that right instead of just going through the motions repeating patterns. I refuse to be grateful for money he's putting into the club when the debt we're in is of his creation. Put enough money in to clear the debt ffs Short. You've accumulated it.
I'm just asking the question, what does he get out of owning SAFC ......... certainly no kudos or glory. Does he just crave spending time at Whitley Bay or Seaham Catholic Club?
He has the Kudos of being at the top of a football club with a phenomenal past in an area that worships the great fans and an area that never shy's away from a fight, people that were prepared to go miles underground to keep people warm, risk life and limb to see their team play on a Saturday afternoon. If he can not take glory from that then he really needs to **** off, he is representing a great club that represents a whole area of people that use the club as a bond. Personally, I think he is a chancer, pocket liner and bullshitter, the sooner he is gone the better..
I don't find much kudos in that mate and I'm the most fanatical Sunderland supporter you'll ever meet. Mention SAFC and people either shrug or grin tbh.
Can't disagree Money money I afraid is the way forward it's sad but if you can't compete It good by to the premiership. We can't just hold on and hold on for years It's big spending or we are gone
If it wasn't for Short we would probably already be knackered, when drumaville left luckily Short was there to take over the reigns, but that was 8 years ago. I believe it was his appointments at back room level that has held us back, DOF doesnt work for a team like ours, its ok for the big teams who can spend 20m-100m on the best players without breaking a sweat, it's a lot different when they are trying to wheel and deal on a 5m player. A Manager should be a Manager for a team like us, not a coach who just coaches the players. I can't be bothered to work it out again, but I believe 48,000 in our stadium only equates to about 16m a year, that's one half decent player these days, or 1/5 (about) of our total wages for the year. Is he skimming off the top, I hope not but it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he was, as for investment now, let's see what we do in the next few weeks. Our problem is, we don't really have any saleable assets/players that could get us ~20m each, last one was Henderson, we were over the moon when we got 3.5m for Waghorn. I don't think it's all his fault, he is the boss though, so should take the brunt of the blame. Last thing as someone else said, be careful what we wish for, he sells to someone 100* worse, they could be 100* better as well, because Short hasnt exactly set the world on fire since being here.
It's called jealousy mate.. I will post photos next week of me in Manila in Sunderland attire.. Nowt worse than jealousy from people that could hardly hold a conversation with another, let alone a full ground of people from all different backgrounds that have so much to say on match day's.. Mr Short, doesn't realise how lucky he is..
