I agree this would be a brilliant set out transfers for this period. However, like you I fear we will only get 1 - most likely Pritchard as that is the one we need the least.

For me, any more attacking midfield signings will simply solidify Howson as a holding player. Howson, Tettey, Mulumbu and Dorrans is a solid set of options, but we're hardly overflowing with players in that area. Agree that even with Brady leaving, we've already got at least two wide players each side, and 2 attacking midfielders, with Naismith not included in any of those categories.

According to a Sky sports journalist on twitter, Pritchard is on his way to Colney for a medical :emoticon-0112-wonde
Be funny if he then chose to join Brighton ahead of us. Like the lad Callum Wilson, who (quite rightly, as it's turned out) opted to join Bourne-mouth ahead of us, despite them being a perceived 'smaller club' at the time.

Think back then we had Hooper, Grabban and Jerome as our main strikers, I think Wilson decided to go to Bournemouth because he thought he'd get more game time there.

If we really want Pritchard to come here then the club has to convince him he'd be an important squad member.

We may have got something right at last. Despite claims on here that the release for McCormack is £15m I am sure the figure is actually £13m. But yet again we are doing our best to balls up the main part of our window trading. The theory that we will stabilise this season and promote the youth is great, but no promotion this season, no Klose, Howson and others next season. They are only staying, if they do, because we are among the favourites for elevation to the top table.

Please explain where my thoughts are wrong. According to somebody on here the squad of 2015 was so good that any Manager, including his Mother, would have got us promoted. Nine of the starting team in the play off final are still here. I know they are a year older but that year was spent in the top level which should have improved them. In addition we now have McGovern, Pinto, Klose, Canos, Jarvis, Brady, Naismith and a few very promising youngsters and yet, apparently, we must now approach the coming season with dread and fear. Why? Is it because, with wages etc, we didn't risk about £22m on a 30 year old who has never played in the top flight, would be worthless when his contract finished and who, according to many accounts, is a very disruptive influence. Is it because we might be forced to sell 2 left sided players? Full backs are fairly plentiful and reasonably priced - should be no problem finding a replacement there even if we ignore Toffolo and Whitaker. Jarvis and Murphy are left sided players and again AN might go into the transfer market. Is it because, despite supporters saying give the youngsters a chance, we might be forced to do it? I said earlier that we should give the youngsters a chance and by that I didn't mean a few appearances on the bench and starting the one game we usually manage in both Cups. I meant at least 50 starting appearances between them. If we replace Olsson and Brady, buy Pritchard and buy 2 new strikers and a CB how are the Murphys, Toffolo, Maddison, Godfrey etc going to get a chance? Lets face it - if we don't give them starts in the Championship we won't give them starts in the Premiership if we get there. Why the doom and gloom?

I don't think the Murphy's Godfrey Toffolo or Maddison would be playing as strikers or centre back and we need another one of each at least .

Use to live in Pulham Market. Use to go there pretty much every Saturday growing up....and fat. The Chip Inn is my favorite.

    Excellent post 1950!!! <applause>
My take on it is that AN may not 'risk' playing the 'few very promising youngsters' you mention in case we suffer heavy defeats - I would say we're more likely to suffer heavy defeats by persisting with the useless Whittaker, Martin (when he's fit) etc. Let's see some of those youngsters in the starting 11 and being given a chance to show what they're capable of!!! <ok>

It appears that the nagging wag and lure of quality fish and chips was not enough for Brighton and Hove Albion.
Perhaps Pritchard found out about the long Stratton chippy ?
