Good Morning Everyone, Rumours are rife this morning that Charlie Taylor has handed in a transfer request via his agent. If this is the case, where does this leave Leeds Utd with only a few days left before the season starts? Answers on a postcard please... Should we grant him permission? If so, at what price? Who do we think is going to be Leeds top goalscorer this season (not including penalties) Wood Roofe Hernendez Antonsson Doukara Sacko The Hernendez deal almost fell through yesterday due to the leak on social media, which alerted other clubs to his availability!!! A statement from LUFC read: "Intense media speculation put Pablo’s move in jeopardy but the club is pleased to have reached an agreement and Pablo would like to thank the fans for their support." Thoughts?
Morning all. Isn't it strange how footballs changed. Thirty years ago you might get two squad changes per season. Bosnian comes along and now its almost a new squad every season
Is the problem Cellino or these kids agents? If its Cellino he is killing the club abd the Lucy Ward thing and the way the academy has been smashed would almost force these kids who grew up there to want to leave. Lucy Ward is still in contact with all these kids as is Redders. These kids had Ward and Redders almost as parents, so for me I think this has a lot to do with it. I dont believe kids should have agents until they reach 20 as there careers can be finished by these lepers so young.
Morning all ... a transfer request means someone has approached Taylor's agent, and he waives any compensation fee for being sold against his will ... this is simply a move to soften Cellino up to a transfer as Leeds will retain more money ... very sad, but like Cook the prospect of getting £30k per week in the Prem is too great an opportunity to ignore ... until Leeds get back to the Prem we will never be able to keep our talented young players and build a solid Leeds United ... FFS we are (as is every Championship club) unable to compete with small clubs like Bournemouth, Swansea, Stoke, Burnley, Watford, Crystal Fcuking Palace and so on, especially now that the Prem money has ballooned to astronomical proportions ... even clubs like Inter Milan can't pay the salaries that Leicester can, fcuking joke Top scorer will be Wood if he stays fit, he is looking solid and his movement is excellent, just needs consistent service ... Roofe will be up there in assists, and hopefully he can add double figures in the goals column as well ... Antonsson won't be a regular starter initially Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
If I grew up with a load of promising kids, and I saw my stand in parents treated like ****, many of my mates told they were being released, and those that were being kept were given 1 year deals only and **** money, i would want to leave too as I would have no trust in the owners. #justsaying If Antonnson gets to start I think he will score goals but Roofe and Wood will both be around 20 goals
Doc ... if our kids are leaving in droves to join Rotherham or the Blades then I can understand your argument, but this is not the case ... the simple fact is that the agent's job is to get the best deal for his player and himself, and this means getting a mega contract at a Prem club, even one as small as Bournemouth As for Redfearn/Ward, I still feel there is a lot there that we don't/won't know ... Redders for one got way ahead of himself, and refused to go back to his Academy role, so fcuk him (his failure at Rotherham underlined the fact that he is not a manager, just like Brian Kidd and Paul Clement) ... Ward no doubt defended him, and although Cellino handled it in his usual explosive continental style (poorly), he did hint that she was responsible for contributing towards a poisonous atmosphere of mistrust as far as I can remember (may be wrong on this) ... our Academy hasn't stalled without Redders, and he probably took too much of the credit when other coaches worked hard with our kids ... Leeds will always attract talented young players, and earlier this year our Academy was highly rated by FIFA as still one of the best in Europe ... our problem is simple, we have got to get into the Prem if we want our kids to graduate into Leeds United players who are good enough to contribute at Prem level Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Geeedy agents created by a farcical system. Pogbas agent is earning 18m from his transfer. How can that be right
Doc, I get your frustration, but we are right not to sign these youngsters to long, bloated contracts too soon because there is no guarantee that they will cack it long term Example: Chelsea took two of our most talented kids in 2005 (Wood and Taiwo, both England age group Internationals) for £5m and signed them to 5 year deals ... at the end of their contracts they left for free, think Taiwo is still playing in Scotland and Wood in non-league ... so, even though they were training with top players and receiving good coaching, they couldn't improve and make the step up, so ultimately cost Abramovich a lot of money for nothing Example: two short seasons ago Mowatt broke through and everyone wanted us to sign him for life ... last season he was shocking and this season he is already looking like a Lge One player, so a long contract isn't justified ... Mowatt has got a lot of work to do to prove he belongs in the Championship never mind Leeds Bottom line is that if Cook had signed a five year deal it would still have meant nothing in terms of a transfer, because he would still have been sold for £6m ... the only issue would have been if he peaked early and went downhill after two seasons then Leeds would have had a long term failure on their hands ... we can't afford these risks in the Championship, so yes, we sell them when they want high value contracts, and we then look to progress the next batch like Viera, Coyle and Phillips Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Spot on as always Eire ... FIFA needs to change the system and not have clubs pay the agents ... in baseball, the player pays his agent, not the club ... this limits the agent greed scale and helps to keep clubs profitable ... agents are forced to work harder for their players, and they keep their asking fees down otherwise their players simply switch ... FIFA has allowed agents to own player contracts, just like the one who owned Tevez, because no doubt bungs were being paid to let this go on ... football needs to wake up before greed kills it Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Twitter this morning is bothering me! So many doom and gloom merchants! If Taylor wants to go and he won't sign a new contract then we should sell him. He's not irreplaceable, he's just good solid LB. Like someone has said whilst we're in the champ and the prem comes knocking we can't keep these players...
That's it all explained perfectly in a nutshell. I wish some of those in cloud cuckoo land believing Cellino should have thrown mega bucks at byram and Cook would study that post carefully. In a nutshell if a young player is good enough we're only ever likely to get about two seasons out of him till the agents see the flashing dollar signs. The likes of mowatt we can probably hold onto for as long as we like
Thoughts! The leak can have only come from the club. Now lets think, who do we know that likes to say he has tried to buy players and they wouldn't come? Cokio Cokeheadio must be gutted that we signed him. Still he will be able to relax after driving Taylor out and pocketing the cash. Still some are making excuses for Cellino.
Billy, why did Paul hart leave? I believe you when you say we have a great set up on paper, but if so why should Paul leave so soon after joining and why did Pearson also leave within weeks. Delph also took the money and hasn't really looked back as he's now with Pep at City and will be kept on I believe. Howson before him has done well at Norwhich but not as well as he hoped and indeed he could be available soon Best news yesterday was hernandez signing even though he's 31 thats fook all and Strachan was 32 when we signed him and look what happened. hernandez will be the best siging we've had in years and can't wait to see him perform in this league
Morning Elland and all. Agents, agents im fkg sick of reading about agents, doesn't the FA realize that they shall bring the game to its knees one day, people like Revie and Shankly must be looking down and shaking there heads, would love to see them out of the game all together.
Only reason Revie would be shaking his head is because of all the brown envelope opportunities he is missing out on
